Overview:

Provide security for patients, employees, visitors and employees and all those who come in contact with PHS. Have a working knowledge of security equipment and systems as required. Perform hazard and risk surveillance in conjunction with fulfillment of security program execution.

Qualifications:

Less than one year experience in general security, however 1 year security experience preferred. Must possess effective communication and written and documentation skills. Must be able to perform all requirements and training of a security technician. Must be able to demonstrate familiarization of hospital locations and operations within 6 months of hire date. All facilities excluding PMG sites require the ability to drive a company owned vehicle. These locations must have a current New Mexico drivers license, and must be insurable by Presbyterian Healthcare Services

Responsibilities:

Completes all required training within prescribed time limits.
  • The agency conducts routine and ad hoc patrols of hospitals and other premises to prevent fire, theft, vandalism and unauthorized visitors.
  • Hazardous material is responsible for several safety, security and health issues.
  • For each shift worked, complete the activity log, detailing all activities, and account for complete shifts or hours.
  • Daily, check equipment, including vehicles, for proper documentation on a checklist.
  • As required, he serves as an organizational member of the PHS/ADS Hazardous Materials/Decontamination Team.
  • Responds to workplace violence and notifies appropriate security personnel as appropriate.
  • Conducts investigations, maintains records and prepares incident reports and other related materials related to security as required.
  • Maintain and enforce established departmental/organizational policies and procedures.
  • As required by the profession, each department and organization prepares written documentation.
  • Interacts with and manages issues with employees, patients, vendors, and other third parties.
  • Collaborates with local, state and federal agencies as required and approved by PHS. '
  • Throughout the shift, keep the supervisor up-to-date on activities and locations. "
  • Respond to calls for key service, vehicle assistance, and escorts in a timely manner.
  • Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature. In-service training and scheduled training.
  • Patient secures valuables and loses items, maintains records of items received, and Keeps track of valuables and lost items.
  • Parking and traffic control, enforcement of parking policy. Issues citations as required.
  • Monitors conduct of visitors on hospital premises, and confronts possible unauthorized persons for questioning as needed.
  • Gathers necessary information from the radio, TV, or Internet in a timely and professional manner.
  • Gives appropriate response time for service requests.
  • Working on time, properly dressed and with all equipment checked and functional. "
  • At the start of the shift, he/she gathers the necessary information (passes it on) to ensure that he or she is up to date with current events in order to perform their duties.
  • As required, he maintains a high level of confidentiality and reports any breaches immediately to the proper authority.
  • As soon as possible, report all possible complaints to the supervisor or director and file the necessary documents.
  • Any employee, visitor, or physician who comes into contact with PHS, shall report any misconduct to the appropriate supervisor, director, or appropriate authority within prescribed time limits.
  • Maintains all security equipment, uniforms and vehicles as required. Reports any issues or misuse to the supervisor or director immediately as possible.
  • The chain of responsibility follows appropriately.
  • The supervisor or director keeps an eye on any changes in personal information related to the work.
  • Attends mandatory meetings, classes, etc.
  • This position will require heavy lifting of greater or equal to 50 pounds for 33 per cent of the shifts in situations where self-defense is deemed necessary. '
  • Can be required to assist with the lifting of patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Can be required to assist in the lifting of dead persons.
  • Within violent instances, he is able to defend himself and others.
  • In the restraint of violence, agitated or hostile persons, the medical staff shall assist.
