Duties

Employs a diverse range of trades including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, cement work, painting, and other related trades. May operate boats and barges up to 40 feet. Performs minor repairs and maintenance of ground, trees, roads, streets, exterior structures, buildings, and associated utilities. Performs non-supervisory work involving ground, trades, and trade practices.

  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Approbation subject to background investigation and favorable favorable resolution, subject to appointment subject to background investigations and favorable adjudication.
  • Meet selective service registration criteria for men.
  • The Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program will require the selectee to participate, as they will be required to do so.
  • Upon acceptance, you must take a drug test and obtain a negative result (this test must be negative) prior to your initial appointment. Additionally, this job requires you to undergo random drug testing for illegal substances.
  • You may be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties. To do so, you must first sign a valid state-issued driver's license that has not been revoked, suspended, canceled, or disqualified in any way, and provide a photocopy of your valid state-issued drivers license every year thereafter. This is done before you start operating a motor vehicle, and again every year (or more often if management determines that need is necessary).
  • The National Park Service uniform requirements must be met and you must wear a uniform to comply with the National Park Service standards. A uniform allowance will be provided.
  • In the federal government, new hires or supervisors must complete a one-year probationary period as a new employee or supervisor.
  • Must have completed either MOCC or MOICC by the end of the recruitment period to be considered for the job opportunity.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors:
  • Capacities to perform the job adequately and without a higher-than-normal supervisor (SCREEN OUT) Ability to perform the duties of the position without additional supervisory pressure (SEEN OUT). Ability to perform related tasks without additional supervisorial influence (SCREAM OUT)
  • posses a Motorboat Operator Certification (MOCC) or Motorboat Operator Instruction Certification (MOICC) (SCREEN OUT) (Save for Rally Boats)
  • Enhanced proficiency in interpreting instructions and specifications, including blueprint interpretation. (Including proficiency in reading blueprints)
  • Ability to utilize and maintain tools and equipment. Capacity to do so.
  • Knowledge of materials
  • Technical techniques (physical, theoretical, artistic) are a type of technical practice.

Physical Demands: Physical effort is heavy to moderate and requires occasional lifting or handling of objects or materials up to 50 pounds, unassisted, following proper lifting procedures to avoid injury. Frequently required to stand while working, climb ladders or scaffolding, and bend, stoop, climb, and work in awkward positions.

Working Conditions: Exposed to a variety of seasonal weather conditions while working outdoors (temperatures -40 to 90+ degrees). Subject to danger of falling from ladders or scaffolding. Exposed to dust, dirt, wind, and rain. May work with dangerous chemicals and around moving equipment, paints, solvents, etc. May be exposed to electrical shocks, and biting insects.
