This vacancy is located in the Office of Consumer Services, Market Conducting Division.

This vacancy may be filled from this recruitment as an Insurance Specialist 1 or 2 depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant. Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A baccalaureate degree.
SUBSTITUTIONS:
6 years of full time work experience in any field may be substituted for the required bachelor's degree only.
Candidates without a bachelor's degree may combine work experience and college credits to substitute for the bachelor's degrees as follows: )
A maximum of 120 semester hours may be combined with experience to substitute for the bachelor's degree.
The 30 to 59 hour credit will substitute for one year of experience toward the bachelor's degree.
60 to 89 semester hours of credit will substitute for two years of experience toward the bachelor's degree.
90 to 119 semester hours of credit will substitute for three years of experience toward the bachelor's degree.
120 or more semester hours of credit will substitute for four years of experience toward the bachelor's degree.
College credit earned without a bachelor's degree can be substituted for a maximum of four years of full-time work experience. Candidates with 120 or more semester hours of credit but without any degree must also have at least two years of full time employment experience to substitute for the Baccalaureate degree.
NOTE:
Any college hours or degree must be from an accredited school or university.

Communicates by telephone, correspondence and/or meetings with company officials, government representatives, lawyers, private individuals, rate prosecutors, state insurance laws and regulations, and examinations for the marketplace. And insurance company appointments.
Investigates data from submissions to insurance companies involving use of rules, rates and fees, using computerized and physical files, researches insurance policies, analyzes legal information and insurance contracts, renders decisions, and sends correspondence to interested parties concerning these inquiries and complaints.
Reviews filed applications for similarity in rules and rates, reviews insurance policy forms and telecommunications contracts for compliance with Louisiana Insurance Code, recommends approval of proposed changes and fairness to consumers. Analyzes rule-and-rate filings submitted by insurance companies thereon.
He attends departmental hearings to give testimony based on the findings of the investigation.
Cooperates with public and private entities in efforts to prevent, detect and prosecute fraudulent insurance transactions.
Maintains familiarity with the Insurance Code and other government rules, regulations, and procedures governing the administration of insurance examinations.
