Candidates will be compensated at a rate of $24.74 per hour. Placement at a higher salary rate within the range may be considered depending on prior comparable, directly related, equivalent experience.

About the Position
Surveillance officers provide surveillance and supportive casework services to Justice-Involvement individuals under the direction of the Superior Court, and engage in professional relationships that help reduce recidivism. Surveillence officers may perform searches and make arrests. The duties of a surveillance officer include monitoring the assigned probationers and meeting with the probationers at their homes or workplaces consistent with the Arizona Code of Judical Administration. Safety measures are :
This position is considered safety sensitive. Work assignments and locations vary throughout the country, and will be made based upon departmental needs. The work schedule will vary and may consist of night/weekend shifts.

Education:
  • Associate degree or the completion of 60 credit hours from an academically accredited college, university, or college through the Council for Higher Education (CHEA) or US Department of Education.
OR
Combined Education and Experience:
  • Public safety is defined as law enforcement, corrections officer, and EMT, firefighter, and security positions for a federal, state, or local government. Military service (active duty), public safety experience, or work with the dependent and/or homeless population may substitute on a year-round basis.

Essential Job Tasks
This is not an all-inclusive list of job duties that may be required, and employees will need to perform other related jobs as assigned.
  • For the purposes of upholding the conditions of probation, coaches involved in cognitive-behavioral skills training were simultaneously working to reduce future criminal behavior.
  • The company conducts accurate assessments to identify risk and needs, and develops individualized case plans focusing on risk reduction.
  • Conducts meaningful contacts, including directing and counseling the individuals involved in the justice system and conducting field contacts (e.g., home, work, treatment facility, community, or jail) and office visits to employ appropriate risk reduction strategies based on assessment results.
  • Obtains, secures and files a complete identification record concerning the individual involved, including arrest records, contact notes regarding compliance with conditions of probation and a plan to prepare written reports for the probation officer.
  • The relationship promotes compliance with the case plan, including conditions of probation, through frequent telephone contacts and work site contacts to include day and evening home contacts.
  • Working with justice involved individuals by using targeted interventions to help build skills in areas connected to criminogenic risk, he directs and refers individuals to community resources, treatment or other interventions based on assessments, behaviors and conditions of probation.
  • In case review conferences, he participates in determining whether a change in supervisor level is necessary.
  • He performs searches, collects samples, and makes a documented effort to locate subjects.
  • Justice serves warrants, makes arrests, and brings individuals involved in justice before the court who are on probation or who are facing revocation.
  • In court, he appeared and testified.
  • Monitors payments of probation fees and ensures victims' notification rights are provided according to statutory requirements. '
  • In confrontational situations with other professionals or others, when necessary, he appropriately and effectively responds and uses defensive tactics and techniques learned at the Defense and Safety Training Academy.
  • Collaborates, coordinates and maintains contact with social service and law enforcement agencies to further rehabilitative or safety goals.

Working conditions :
While performing this job, the employee is required to speak clearly and hear, see details of objects that are less than a few feet away, stand, walk, use hands or fingers to feel; reach with hands and arms; occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.
Because individuals involved in justice are often convicted felons or persons with domestic violence convictions, these job duties expose surveillance officers to a risk of being assaulted by those who are supervised. Officers must be able to recognize and handle confrontational situations using defensive tactics and techniques when necessary, the report said. '
Defense Tactics Training Academy requires that a Surveillance Officer perform and demonstrate competency in physical and verbal defensive tactics and techniques, including the following or their equivalent alternatives: [math]
  • Forcefully raise your arms above your head (straightening your chin and taking down your hair).
  • Perform minor aerobic activity
  • How long can I stand for up to 2 hours at a time?
  • Engage in balanced movements
  • throw hand strikes (fist strikes and palm-heel strikes).
  • Use impact weapons (ability to swing arms in a striking action with a baton that weighs 16 ounces):
  • Knock at targets below 24 ” (front to back)
  • Perform controlled falls and return to standing position (assisted falls and recovery))
  • Complete hand strikes and kick drills at partial speed.
  • Survive exposure to oleoresin and octase (OC) spray.
  • While on the ground, engage in combat techniques.

The person selected will make up to 60 per cent of their client contacts in the field, and must possess a valid driver's license. Officers will be reimbursed for the authorized use of a private vehicle; employees must provide proof of insurance.
