Job Description
PAM CUT // Center for an Untold Tomorrow invites applications for the position of Producer of Screening and Experiences. The Producer of Screenings and Experiences assembles and manages the necessary day-to-day creative and practical production needs of film, new media, and experiential programming at PAM CUT. The Producer will plan and coordinate all projects through their creative life-cycles and partner on all programmatic efforts at the Tomorrow Theater to celebrate and challenge for whom, by whom and how cinematic stories are told.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, production and wrap of the wide-ranging content programming
- At the direction of the PAM CUT Director, produces film and new media performances, special events, signature series, and celebrations of cinematic storytelling in all its forms, both solo, with partners, guest programmers/curators and PAM CUT creative teams
- Work collaboratively with the operations, IT, and events teams to generate workback schedules and runs of shows for each evening(s) performance
- In collaboration with the Director of PAM CUT and Associate Director of Operations, develop a consistent exhibition strategy, project management rubric and calendar for Tomorrow Theater programming that supports the PAM CUT’s artistic and financial goals.
- Works with the Director to track upcoming new films, media, programs, and opportunities; liaison with key film, podcast, television, interactive, new media, arts and culture professionals locally and globally, including artists, distributors/streamers, talent, bookers, publicists, agents, and managers.
- Active contributor with Director of PAM CUT, Associate Director of Operations, and marketing team to develop promotions, audience engagement and outreach strategies
- Collaborate with community partners to develop a signature voice for each program, event, and festival in support of the mission of changing for whom, by whom, and how cinematic stories are told
- Serve as an audience-facing presence alongside the Director of PAM CUT and PAM CUT staff at events and screenings
- Contributes to the construction and budget management for each programmatic or special event
- Ensures that screenings and events are coordinated and executed according to deadlines and budget
Secondary or Additional Responsibilities
- Observe, track, and share emerging trends in global media exhibitions
- Contributes copy for Exhibition-related marketing materials
- Assist the Associate Director of Operations and the Finance department with negotiation of vendor and exhibition agreements
- Collaborates across the organization in the development and maintenance of PAM CUT’s processes and systems to ensure exceptional program/exhibition excellence
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Supervises the Associate Programmer and Guest Programmers
- Supervisory duties include: recruitment, mentoring, performance management, training, and coaching. Serves as a leadership example by being clear on the strategic direction of the department, being accountable and holding others accountable, and centering collaboration and the values of the museum
- Decisions are made within Portland Art Museum’s policy constraints
- Budget accountability and long term planning in conjunction with the Director of PAM CUT

- Knowledge of commercial, independent, and international media arts communities and a strong network of media contacts to rely upon to engage with and celebrate diverse, and compelling content
- Strong planning skills, as well as capacity to adapt to rapidly shifting priorities and strategies
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, can convey complex concepts and procedures
- Discrete in managing confidential information
Education, Formal & Informal Experience, Training Required, Certification, Etc.
- A Bachelor’s degree in an arts, technology, or communication arts related field (and/or creative non-profit management) or equivalent combination of experience and education
- Minimum 5 years hands-on experience, executing, managing and programming a film/new media/multi-media exhibition program at a theater, festival, museum/gallery, or arts non-profit
- Minimum 5 years of managerial experience required; previous supervision of an arts program, production or events team preferred
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, which includes managing multiple projects simultaneously within a complex fast-paced environment
- Strong technical skills a plus - this includes a working knowledge of film and new media technologies and technical specifications
- Quick to learn new and existing technologies
- Working knowledge of Google platform, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) experience required
Job Conditions
- Exempt and full time status
- Schedule/Hours: 35 hours per week (work hours may vary, must be available nights and weekends)
- Travel occasionally
- Works between multiple locations (PAM CUT, Portland Art Museum, and the Tomorrow Theater)
- Occasional on-call status
- Extensive computer work

- Constantly operates a computer and other office equipment, such as a copy machine, phone, and printer
- Frequently communicates with team members or clients
- Frequently move about the Museum, PAM CUT, and the Tomorrow Theater
- Occasionally lift/pull/push up to 15-20lbs

- Budgeted compensation is within pay grade I ($53,380 min - $62,717 mid - $72,035 max), depending on experience
