Overview

The Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is seeking a Call Center Supervisor to oversee Call Center staff who are responsible for providing accurate information via phone, email, fax, and postal mail in a fast-paced environment. The Call Center Supervisor must have excellent customer service skills, be capable of handling complex transactions, effectively communicate with customers and internal staff, as well as manage daily reporting. The ideal candidate must possess strong leadership and customer service skills and be able to effectively communicate with staff and customers. The incumbent will need the ability to learn quickly, adapt to changes (fees, forms, supporting document requirements) and have excellent computer skills as this position requires navigating multiple databases.

In accordance with Title 23, Section 102(d), an applicant must agree to be finger-printed and pass a background investigation to be eligible for this position. Environmental Factors

Incumbents must be able to work quickly and accurately under pressure, before the public eye through social media. Exceptional Human relations skills are required in training and motivating staff in dealing with upset and irate citizens. Stress caused by coping with large volumes of work, production deadlines and high call and email volume that needs to be handled in the most efficient manner. May receive threats of harm from difficult, irate, and upset customers. Incumbents must be able to multi-task and prioritize unpredictable workloads. Employees must be able to deal with confused, frustrated, and highly upset customers and handle large sums of money. Within the office setting, normal workplace conditions prevail. Incumbents must be able to perform several job duties within several different units possibly in the same day. Private means of transportation may be required. Some overtime work may be required.

Minimum Qualifications

Associates degree AND two (2) years of work experience at or above a supervisory or team lead clerical level, including public contact experience.

OR

Completion of a one-year (1) vocational/technical training program in business and office or customer service occupations or related area AND three (3) years or more of office administrative experience that included significant public contact.

OR

High school graduation or equivalent AND four (4) years or more of office administrative experience, that included significant public contact.

Preferred Qualifications

Supervisory and/or management experience.
Candidates with prior motor vehicle department experience.
