Overview

The Education Quality Division of the Agency of Education (AOE) is seeking an enthusiastic and mission driven individual to be an Education Program Coordinator.



The Education Program Coordinator will collaborate with other individuals and teams in the Vermont Agency of Education and Local Education Agencies (LEAs). Experience providing training and technical assistance, supervision, and managing competing priorities are important qualities of the ideal candidate. This position sits on the Licensing team in the Education Quality Division and also provides administrative support to the Education Quality Assurance (EQA) team as needed.

This position is subject to State Personnel Policies and Agency of Education guidelines for telework, which include all in-person, all remote, and hybrid options subject to the needs of the Agency. In-state and some out-of-state travel will be required at times.



Specific job duties of the Education Program Coordinator include:

  • Supervision of the Program Technician position
    • Development & Monitoring staff work plans.
    • Onboarding when there is turn-over of “supervisees” or the addition of new staff to your supervision roster.
  • Management of the online licensing system
    • Lead all phases of user acceptance testing (UAT) of the online licensing system to ensure the system meets all the needs of the Agency of Education. Provide verification of success or issues for the vendor implementation.
    • Act as the division liaison for the online licensing system. Troubleshoot and connect with vendor on defects that need to be corrected and verify solutions.
  • Administrative Assistant to the Director including confidential correspondence and email.
  • Responsibilities in the Criminal Records Check process for licensing.
  • Hiring Manager for Division including logistical and material support for interview panel and candidates.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of “field” trainings; meeting logistical arrangements including identifying geographical appropriate locations, negotiating vendor prices and services, surveying participants on dietary and physical needs then working with the vendor to implement. Develop online registration methods, organize materials for participants, problem-solve with participants, Division staff and vendors on site.
  • Division liaison with Interagency Committee on Administrative Rules (ICAR) and Legislative Committee on Administrative Rules (LCAR) administrative staff for Rule Making.
  • Liaison to the Vermont Standards Board for Professional Educators.
  • Meeting Minutes and logistics.
  • Agency of Education Web Liaison.
  • Experience with Salesforce a plus.
  • Contribute to establishing organizational mission and vision, creating planning and policy documents, and improving or restructuring existing programs to meet the needs of the field.

Environmental Factors

Work is generally performed in a standard office setting, but significant travel may be anticipated for which private means of transportation must be available. Some work outside of normal work schedule may be required. There may be considerable interaction with a variety of publics and strong differences of opinion may be encountered.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in education, public administration, or related field AND five (5) years or more at a professional level education, program development, or leadership role in a public or private educational institution.
OR
Three (3) years or more as an Education Programs Coordinator I with the State of Vermont.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree.
