Job Summary
The Assistant Safety Operations Supervisor will lead a team of Facility Communications Specialists. You will act as a liaison between Mental Health and Substance Abuse Treatment Services (MHSATS) and with numerous professionals both within the Department of Human Services and with other agencies and entities. In addition, you will promote and support the mission and treatment philosophies of a client population represented by diverse cultures and needs, which require continued attention to ensure that dignity and respect is provided in the process of providing therapeutic environment.
Duties include:
- Supervise staff to ensure employees effectively perform assigned job duties in a manner that supports the mission and treatment philosophies of AMRTC.
- Participate in the development and implementation of policies and procedures, as well as continuous improvement efforts related to security systems, training and protocol.
- Facilitate the delivery of various training that relates to the safety and security of AMRTC.
- Relay sensitive information to leadership, direct care staff, emergency responders and law enforcement personnel.
- Manage all aspects of direct reports’ training including training development, performance evaluation and identifying training needs.
Anoka Metro Regional Treatment Center (AMRTC) is an inpatient psychiatric hospital serving adults with mental illness in a large, campus-based setting. The population also includes individuals civilly committed for specialized care, such as competency for criminal court (Rule 20), emergency 48-hour bed holds, and co-occurring mental illness/chemical dependency. Located just 15 minutes north of the Twin Cities metro, this modern facility offers compassionate, person-centered care in a pleasant environment appreciated by patients and employees alike.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- At least one (1) year of professional work experience designing, implementing, and evaluating the effectiveness of protocols, policies, programs, strategies and training in a secure setting or large healthcare facility
In addition, applicants must possess:
- Knowledge of behaviors found in secure and/or treatment populations, as well as appropriate response techniques to avoid or deescalate violent behavior.
- Excellent communication, human relations, and conflict resolution skills to relay sensitive information to staff, patients, the public, law enforcement personnel, and other state agencies and to elicit cooperation to resolve difficult and potentially dangerous situations affecting the safety and security of patients, staff, and the public.
- Computer skills sufficient to use e-mail and word processing software, analyze and process data, maintain spreadsheets, and monitor security cameras.
