Full Description
The Bureau of Communicable Disease Prevention, Division of Public Health is recruiting for a limited-service Health Program Specialist to work in the Environmental Health Section to plan, implement, and coordinate harmful algae bloom (HAB) public health response project programming having statewide impacts. The HAB Health Program Specialist will coordinate with multiple agencies and partners to design and implement improved data sharing, communication, response tools, and training.

Our generous benefits package increases the total compensation of a full-time (benefits eligible) Health Program Specialist making $29.75/hour to an estimated $42.16/hour.

Serve as the project coordinator for the implementation and management of the HAB public health response project.- Lead education and outreach efforts in the collaboration and coordination of multiple agencies and partners, coordinate with multiple agencies and partners.
- Design and implement improved data sharing, communication, response tools, and training.
- Survey partners to develop budgets for subsequent funding requests.
- Work with internal partners to report event and illness data related to HABs to the Center of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) One Health Harmful Algal Bloom (OHHAB) and National Outbreak Reporting System (NORS) website.
- Develop a white paper on the possibility of using "citizen science" or partnering with the Idaho Invasive Species program for detection and monitoring.
- Collaborate with health professionals, state and local public health staff, and CDC program staff.
Some knowledge of public health practices.- Some knowledge of survey methodology and statistical procedures used to collect, analyze, and interpret data.
- Experience managing projects.
