The Appeals Bureau Chief will manage the Appeals Bureau and a team of Hearing Officers. This position will oversee or conduct appeals hearings and ensure hearings and binding appeals decisions from Unemployment Insurance (UI), Wage and Hour (W&H), and Job Training programs are in conformance with federal and state law and standards; perform related work.

Example of Duties
- Manages the Appeals Bureau by providing leadership, setting standards, and policy in accomplishing Department goals.
- Review appeals hearings to ensure performance and quality to meet federal standards.
- Conduct periodic Appeals Examiner and clerical staff training.
- Achieve Federal performance in timeliness and case aging standards.
- Achieve Federal quality standards.
- Participate in employer education seminars.
- Prepare federal reports required from the Appeals Bureau.
- Explain appeals procedures and policies to internal and external parties.
Minimum Qualifications
Considerable knowledge of:
- Judicial and administrative hearing procedures, rules of evidence, due process and administrative law.
- Interpreting and applying laws, regulations, and policies.
- Supervising staff.
