Job Description Summary
Under general supervision, assists the Events Supervisor and Events Coordinator in organizing, and executing both public and private events at the City of Greer Parks and Recreation facilities. Reports to the Events Supervisor. Job Responsibilities
Responsibilities: Assists with the coordination of activities and events for the facility/park, which involves setting up, decorating and executing parties and events; assists in the preparation for the event to include renting facilities, ensuring cleanliness and that rules and regulations are followed by participants; involves repetitious lifting and moving of tables and chairs in set-up and take-down of event; Interacts with the public by providing facility/park tours, greeting visitors, providing directions; Provides information to the public regarding fees, availability and requirements for use; may assist with the coordination of the events calendar; Maintains records and files on activities and events; Assists with Events Division inventory and related supplies and records. Knowledge of Job:
Has thorough knowledge of the methods, procedures, and policies of the Events Division of the Parks and Recreation Department as they pertain· to the performance of duties of the Events Assistant. Has knowledge of the organization of the Department and of related departments and agencies. Has knowledge of the laws, ordinances, standards, and regulations pertaining to the specific duties and responsibilities of the position. Has knowledge of the facilities, materials, and equipment utilized in recreational programs, special events, and related specialties. Has knowledge of a wide variety of recreation interests and activities for adults and all age groups in the community. Has knowledge of various recreation facilities and their uses and maintenance requirements. Has knowledge of the philosophy and objectives of public recreation. Has working knowledge of the principles of supervision, organization and administration. Has working knowledge of the requirements, policies and procedures of various media outlets necessary for promotional activities. Is able to use common office machines and popular computer driven word processing, spreadsheet, and file maintenance programs. Is able to maintain routine administrative reports and records. Is able to plan and supervise the activities required to execute assigned recreational programs. Is able to compose effective correspondence. Is able to make oral presentations before large groups of people. Is able to communicate and establish rapport, understanding and confidence with program participants and the general public. Is able to exercise of independent judgment in the application of program and game rules and procedures. Is able to exercise considerable tact and courtesy in frequent contact with the public. Is able to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by work assignments.

Quality of Work:
Maintains high standards of accuracy in exercising duties and responsibilities. Exercises immediate remedial action to correct any quality deficiencies that occur in areas of responsibility. Maintains high quality communication and interacts with all City departments and divisions, co-workers, and the general public.

Maintains effective and efficient output of all duties and responsibilities as described under "Specific Duties and Responsibilities."

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Minimum Education and Training - Requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent and one (1) year of experience in event planning or general administration; or any combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must obtain basic first aid & CPR training, fire extinguisher training, AED training and Bloodborne Pathogens Training certificates. Must possess a valid state issued driver"s license. Physical Requirements:
Must be physically able to operate a variety of equipment and machinery including computers, calculators, copiers, hand tools, etc. Must be physically able to operate a variety of motor vehicles. Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Requires the ability to climb, reach and/or stretch arms, legs or other parts of the body to grasp objects. Physical requirements are for Medium Work.

Hours: Hours will vary depending upon schedule of events; Work approximately 3 days a week, Monday through Friday also weekends and evenings; approximately 28 hours per week. Disclaimer
