Torch Technologies is currently seeking a Network Administrator to support the Ground Vehicle System Center (GVSC) at the Detroit Arsenal, located in Warren, MI. Selected candidates with experience in connecting facilities, planning and cost estimating necessary hardware play a pivoted role in supporting achievement in network security and performance requirements. Ability to develop software applications for data management over networks and to recognize and characterize network topologies. Ideal candidates will have demonstrated practical experience with network development, integration, and implementation along with strong project management skills and knowledge of phase gate process. Candidate should be dependable, self-motivated, and eager to overcome challenges with strong problem-solving skills.




Job Requirements:

Qualified Candidates will have direct experience with the following:

  • Extensive understanding of networking with Linux Systems
  • Strong understanding of containerization technologies
  • Extensive background with Marshalling and Unmarshalling Network Data
  • Strong understanding of Network Security operations and implementation
  • Management of Network Design and procurement of materials for integration
  • Development of technical documentation and application deliverables
  • Reviewing contractor performance specifications and software documentation
  • Experience within a multiple discipline engineering team

Qualified candidates will have an interest or experience in one of the following areas:

  • Routing and Switching administration with Cisco (or another network OS) and Linux
  • Familiarity with networking protocols (STP, LACP, DHCP, BGP, RADIUS, TACACS+)
  • Configuration automation (Python, Ansible, Bash, or other scripting/programming language)
  • Cisco VPN administration (FirePOWER Management Center, FirePOWER Threat Defense)
  • Cisco ASA and Linux Firewall administration
  • Network Access Controller administration (AAA Server)
  • Datacenter Management (Serial Console, Patching Drops, Cabling, Tagging)
  • Basic Linux System Administration skills such as installation, configuration, and package management

Education and Experience Requirements:

Torch is considering high-caliber candidates representing mid-career through late-career experience. Compensation will be based on competency and experience. The following requirements are the minimum required for consideration.

  • B.S. or greater in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Network Engineering. Relevant graduate degrees may be given preference.
  • 8 or more years of experience in Network Administration, an emphasis in Network Development is preferred.

Those with the following capabilities may be given preference in the selection process.

  • 8 or more years of experience in Software Development in a Linux Environment
  • 8 or more years of experience in the following programming languages
    • C | C++ / Java
  • 8 or more years of experience in integration of software and hardware systems with emphasis on network integration and automated testing
  • 8 or more years of experience with Virtual Private Network (VPN) protocol and development is strongly preferred.
  • Candidates demonstrating understanding or showing experience with DISA STIGS requirements and methodologies will be strongly preferred.

  • Candidate must be a U.S Citizen
  • Duty Station – Detroit Arsenal | Warren, MI
  • DoD Secret Level Clearance
    • This position requires the candidate meet requirements to obtain and maintain a US DoD Secret Security Clearance to access classified information. Inability to obtain and maintain a secret clearance will result in candidate being ineligible for this position.
  • DoD 8570.1-M IAT II or IAT III baseline certification (https://public.cyber.mil/wid/cwmp/dod-approved-8570-baseline-certifications/) – Note: Training leading to certification may be available to the appropriate candidate.
