Your role:
As an IBM iSeries/AS400 COBOL Software Developer you will be part of a tight knit team that supports the Corrections Information System (CIS) which is the mission critical bedrock application for ODOC, its community corrections partners, as well as several other partner criminal justice organizations across the state of Oregon. This is an entry level COBOL development position and understanding, and experience programming COBOL is a must. Some of the types of work that will be expected of you include the following:
  • Participate in the development, review, and testing of IBM iSeries/AS400 COBOL software and modules
  • Analyze business needs for development of IBM iSeries/AS400 COBOL software and connected services
  • Support data analysts, database administrators, and end-users
  • Communicate and support a variety of business stakeholders and users of CIS and other connected IT systems
  • Beginning to intermediate level troubleshooting and analysis of IBM iSeries/AS400 COBOL systems
What We Are Looking For
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
(a) Four (4) years of information systems experience in:
IBM iSeries/AS400 and COBOL Development which must be from the last 2 years;
OR
(b) An Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, OR completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in information technology or related field;
AND
two (2) years of information systems experience in:
IBM iSeries/AS400 and COBOL Development which must be from the last 2 years;
OR
(c) A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field may substitute for all of the above.

This is a full-time remote work position with opportunities to come into the office for applicants local to the Salem Oregon area if desired.
Requirements for Employment
You must be able to pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, the following convictions are likely to result in being disqualified for this position: felony convictions, computer theft, identify theft and fraud. CJIS clearance is done at the conditional job offer.

The salary range listed above is for non-PERS qualifying applicants. PERS qualifying applicants may be eligible for an adjusted range.
