Salary offers are based on the candidate's equivalent experience and internal equity with other employees within the same job classification. The position is eligible for overtime compensation for all hours worked over 40 in the designated workweek.

About the Position
As our Workforce Development Coordinator, you will integrate Maricopa County’s workforce development system at the Maricopa County Human Services campus in the City of Goodyear. You will support our City of Goodyear partners in providing workforce development and training services and will regularly interact with the Economic Development Department, staff members from the City of Goodyear, Chambers of Commerce, community partners, and neighboring towns and cities.

The Workforce Development Division is part of the statewide workforce development network, ARIZONA@WORK. We provide services that benefit both employers and job seekers throughout Maricopa County. For our employment partners, we provide services such as recruiting, developing, and retaining the best employees for their needs. We Require
  • Two years of experience in employment assistance, training programs, and/or other career development activities
  • An equivalent combination of job-related experience may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis
  • Bachelor’s degree in public or business administration, marketing, communications, or a closely related field

Job Contributions
  • Act as a business liaison, trainer, career advisor, and partner with Workforce Center and the City of Avondale by assisting jobseekers in obtaining and retaining employment and helping local employers attract and retain highly qualified candidates
  • Evaluate each client’s interests, education, and experience to determine possible employment placements, and/or develop an employability plan to further participants’ successful entry into the workforce; document the client’s progress and goals, according to the division case note standards, by creating and updating case notes
  • Coach clients in resume development and preparation, interviewing techniques, and structured job search activities; facilitate orientations, informal seminars, and one-on-one sessions with clients
  • Provide curriculum and training to Workforce Center staff and the City of Avondale staff on employability skills workshops; assist in teaching classes and community-based partners; help identify enhancements to existing resource programs and services to support workforce adult and youth programming
  • Partner with the business community to create and implement strategies and action plans to meet businesses’ employee recruitment, retention, and training needs as well as introduce workforce developments services to local business owners through group presentations, articles, and personal contact to establish resource relationship in coordination with the economic development department, chambers of commerce, human resources associations, business, and civic organizations
  • Participate and support outreach and recruitment efforts by promoting and publicizing training classes/workshops including staffing and/or presenting at job fairs and community events
  • Perform clerical tasks, including but not limited to answering the phones, greeting customers, generating written reports, switchboard coverage, responding to telephone inquiries, scheduling appointments
Working Conditions:
  • Work is performed in a combination of environments indoors and outdoors, including ARIZONA@WORK Maricopa County Career Centers and a variety of neighborhoods for community outreach
  • Ability to travel to and from job-related locations during a scheduled workday using a County or private vehicle used on County business
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends
  • Valid Arizona driver’s license, upon hire
  • Arizona Department of Public Safety Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card, upon hire
