Jersey City Department of Public works is seeking a Tire Service Repairer to join their team. The ideal candidate will work within the Division of Automotive, which includes repairing, removing, and inspecting damaged and defective tires of cars, buses, heavy equipment, and other related items. They may also respond to road calls to replace damaged tires on various automobile vehicles; perform other related duties.

Job Duties:

• Different jacks are used to raise vehicles depending on the type of vehicles. Raising vehicles using different types of jacks.
• Unbolts wheels, using a lug wrench, and unbolts the wheels, using the lug wrench.
• Removal of wheels from vehicles, or a power hoist for heavy equipment tire repair. However, these vehicles may not be hand-operated.
• Detects a hole in a tubeless tire by visual inspection of the puncture or by placing the inflated tire in a water bath and noticing air bubbles on the outside surface. This method is also used to identify any holes.
• Taking apart the inner tubes from the tire and examining the inner tubes and the defects in the tire, the technician then examines the tire to determine any abnormalities, such as holes or tears.
• Rubber cement is used to glue a tire patch over a rupture in the tire's casing and smooth the air bubbles by gluing it.
• Rearrange tire and wheel, place wheel onto balancing machine and determine weights needed for balancing wheel. Re-arrange tire on wheel.
• Counterweights called hammers were used on the rim of the wheel, as counterweights are placed on the wheel to increase the weight of the hammer.
• Whether you're switching between regular tires or using snow tires, you should make sure they're switched between regular tires and using snow tires.
• In tubeless tires, puncture is sealed by inserting an adhesive material and expanding the rubber plug with appropriate hand tools. Seals puncture by inserting adhesive material and increasing the rubber plug.
• Suitable for separating tires from wheels using a variety of tools or equipment.
• Motorized equipment with flat tires, which may have flat tires, may be required for road service repair on may's motorized equipment.
• He may be tasked with driving multiple vehicles on the road, with the option of using multiple vehicles.

Requirements:

• New Jersey mandates that applicants must hold a driver's license, which must be valid for at least 18 months, unless a vehicle must be used to perform the essential duties of the position, rather than mobility.

Essential Skills:

• Ability to employ a range of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems that are commonly used by the agency, office, or related units.
• To perform duties of this position, one must be able to perform reading, writing, speaking, understanding, and communicating in English in a manner capable of fulfilling the necessary conditions. Examples of communication may include American Sign Language or Braille.
