Job Duties
The Chesapeake Health Department is seeking an experienced Store and Warehouse Specialist to be the district's lead Storekeeper. Responsibilities include reviewing, ordering, receiving, correcting and filling orders for bulk supplies ordered by health departments, central office programs and/or federally funded community health centers. Determines if ordered quantities are sufficient; recommends when inventory or non-inventory items must be ordered; tracks special orders for timeliness and repackages and re-labels items to assist work units. Works with limited supervision.
This position maintains, through perpetual inventory, all supplies & equipment for all programs of the Chesapeake Health Department; conducts physical inventories of all expendable supplies, fixed assets & controllable property according to State & City policies & procedures; processes lease requests and renewals; develops competitive bidding contract documentation; procures complex & high value purchases; compiles and prepares monitoring documentation related to the agency small purchase charge cards; assists with the management of the agency's owned & pool vehicles, and compiles departmental statistical reports. Duties are performed while stooping, bending, standing or sitting and include lifting boxes weighing up to fifty pounds. The Storekeeper Senior is a crucial support position providing critical customer service to all internal staff. The job duties require a very specific set of knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as an in-depth knowledge of State, City and local guidelines that are not easily transferable to other staff.
Minimum Qualifications
- Knowledge of state regulations and policy related to the provision of services,
handling guidelines, and facilities by contract or lease.
- Must possess the physical capacity to unload, unpack, and store items such as supplies and equipment.
- Having proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel; and possessing the ability to maintain accurate records.
- Ability to work with a variety of people and communities, possessing strong communication skills. Additionally, having excellent writing and speaking abilities are desirable.
