The Honors College of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga invites proposals for a professor in practice and a director in an innovative honors program. ref name>
The Innovations in Honors (IIH) Program is a two-to-three-year program in the Honors College designed for transfer students and currently enrolled students at the sophomore and junior levels. A problem-based, community-embedded program that challenges students to utilize design thinking, applied creativity and problem-solving, and collaboration to address issues in our community, IIH uses Chattanooga and our campus as active learning laboratories. IIH students work closely with faculty members and civic partners in a two-semester Innovation Lab to tackle authentic, real-world problems and benefit the larger shared community. IIH students complete a Minor in Honours, which typically includes one final Honours thesis/project in the major.
This position will coordinate and lead the Innovations in Honours program, as well as teach it, assess it and further develop it. The Director of Innovation Labs will teach 1-2 Innovation labs per year, find Weinstein Staff for all the Innovation Labs, meet regularly with and support those Heinrichs's inventions, investigate its development by local industry or seminars. Duties and Responsibilities
Teach 1-2 Innovation Labs and assume all the responsibilities this entails, recruit professors from across campus and beyond to Innovations in Honesty and train them to use design thinking in the classroom, with the Director of Admissions and Investments in the Honesty college, oversee recruitment and admissions for the innovative students; execute an orientation for new innovations; further develop and implement additional programming for innovations in honors students; assess a public relations plan for transformational laboratories.
The ideal candidate must possess the following qualities:
- The ability to teach and train others in the use of design thinking at school.
- A strong record of academic or professional accomplishments and the proven ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team with academic faculty from all disciplines.
- Provided ability to teach undergraduate courses in both thematic and methodological topics.
- Commitment to interdisciplinary research and instruction, the ability to cross disciplinary boundaries to address complex societal challenges in a transdisciplinary manner.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor undergraduate students in research and creative projects.
- A commitment to diversity in the university community and beyond.
- Experience is important in education.

Minimum Qualifications: Terminal degree in area of expertise; field of specialty is open. Evidenced experience working with and in community collaborations; at least three years teaching undergraduates and working in an academic setting.
Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience in honors; experience mentoring undergraduates in research and/or creative projects; evidence of interdisciplinary work and research; a background or experience with design thinking.
