SUMMARY:
This position shall promote all products and services offered by the Tupelo Park & Recreation Department in areas of youth and adult athletic events, community festivals and celebrations. The incumbent will be responsible for the development and implementation of social media campaigns, content creation, and delivery of all Tupelo's Park and Recreation social marketing strategy, develop and maintain website, write news releases, and perform a full range of project work including the development and implement of the Jenkins marketing plan.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Other duties may be assigned, including the following:
Establishes marketing goals to ensure the share of market and growth of sports and tourism products and services.
develops and implements marketing plans and programs, both short term and long term, to ensure the growth and expansion of sports tourism products and services.
develops and administers an annual advertising budget.
Utilizes market research to guide marketing.
plans and oversees the organization's advertising and publicity activities, including print, electronic and direct mail outlets. Also includes day-to-day website monitoring and strategic development.
On an as needed basis, coordinates and subcontractors with outside advertising agencies or contracts.
Ensures all production and marketing schedules are met or surpassed. Adherence to deadlines is critical, he said.
Ensures that marketing goals are achieved within the defined budget.
Draft content for external communications, such as blogs and social networking platforms, to support the overall marketing program of work.
Must be able to answer questions, post on Facebook as necessary, and be involved with the public whenever necessary through all social media platforms.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High school graduation or equivalent.
Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in the areas of Geography, History, Sports Marketing and Management, Business Administration, Public Affairs, or any other comparable degree is strongly desired.
A minimum of five (5) years of experience in the area of sports entertainment or marketing is preferred.
A combination of experience and education can be accepted on an equal basis.
OFFICE SKILLS:
must operate standard office equipment and personal computers.
must present an organized office environment that promotes a friendly and efficient work environment.
The ability to multi-task in order to meet deadlines.
Knowledgeable in computer applicable software (Internet, Microsoft word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook) is preferred and able to learn new software as needed. Experience is required on both PC and MAC platforms.
Writing and copyediting experience.
LANGUAGE:
The ability to read, analyse, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, or government regulations.
Ability to respond quickly and effectively to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulators, and members of the business community.
The ability to write letters and/or articles or publications that conform to the prescribed style and format.
The ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or government officials.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS:
possesses a valid driver's license.
If operating a vehicle on behalf of TPRD, the driver must possess proof of valid insurance.
