This position requires the selected applicant to undergo a five week training program in Delaware prior to reporting to his/her respective work-site. This level of work performs the full range of essential functions in at least one motor vehicle functional area of Driver or Vehicle Services, and reports to a Motor Vehicle Associate Supervisor.

Essential Functions

Essential functions are fundamental, core functions common to all positions in the class series and are not intended as an exhaustive list of all job duties for any one position.   • Processes a variety of transactions, such as issuing driver's licenses, identity cards, and other motor vehicle credentials, accessing driving records, inspecting vehicles, assessing fines and penalties, and reviewing client history to identify outstanding warrants and/or licenses/IDs issued by other jurisdictions.

  • Provides outstanding customer service to internal and external customers by obtaining business, personal information, or sensitive information, and assisting customers with all necessary transactions to resolve issues.

  • Identifies situations outside of standard operating procedures and makes recommendations for exceptions in accordance with laws, rules, regulations, policy, processes and procedures while protecting customers.

  • "Accurately computes, manages and accounts for all DMV monies collected by transactions including driver licenses, ID cards, titles, insurance and driver improvement fees. Federal Highway Vehicle Use Tax (FHVUT) and International Registration Plan (IRP). Ensures all fees and deposits are reconciled and deposited correctly. "

  • Interprets, applies and explains driver's identity to the public, state law enforcement officers, automobile dealers, government agencies, businesses and other states' jurisdictions. _Rules, regulations, policies, processes, procedures, and programs of eligibility for lawyers, law students and insurance companies.

  • Reviews and analyzes different source documents, such as birth certificates, passports, court records, bills of sale, and wills. Power of attorney required in the issuance of driver's licenses and other identification documents ensures validity, completeness, and authenticity : )

  • Accesses various manual, computerized and specialized systems simultaneously to review source documents, determine customer eligibility for services, and complete transactions accurately and within any established service levels.

  • He researches, evaluates and uses judgment to resolve discrepancies; identifies exceptions; and makes decisions.

  • Answers customer questions and completes transactions for non-DMV services including voter registration, warrant resolution, red light violations and E-Pass transponders. )

  • May administer vision, written, oral and/or road examinations to evaluate drivers' knowledge and skills to safely operate automobiles.

  • Inspections may include vehicle equipment, such as lights, horns, windshield wipers, turn signals, brakes, emissions and exhaust systems for automobiles; complete off-site inspections for verification or assignment of vehicle identification numbers. *

  • May operate manual and computerized vehicle testing equipment.

  • He prepares a variety of records and reports.

Job Requirements

Requirements for a job as a Motor Vehicle Associate? ****
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:

  • 6 months experience in document processing, which includes reviewing and evaluating records for completeness and conformity with laws, rules, regulations, standards, and policy. Issues resolve, resolve deficiencies, and interpret information.

  • 6 months experience in customer service, such as providing prompt and accurate assistance to customers seeking information, answering requests as quickly as possible, ensuring customers are satisfied with service and responding to complaints. '

  • 6 months experience in applying laws, rules, regulations, standards, and procedures.

  • 6 months experience in using an automated information system to enter, update, modify, delete, retrieve/inquire and report data.

  • Possession of a valid driver's license (not suspended, cancelled or revoked), and disqualification from driving.
