The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As a Molding Technician, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • The development of new injection molding processes for high precision micro molded optical components is supported by the company.
  • Applying your understanding of injection molding equipment to set up and start molding machines, document process changes and maintain tooling?
  • Working with multi-disciplinary teams to plan and execute process experiments, collect process data. Managing production for quality and limited production runs is a key role.
  • During development, qualification and production, limited tooling and process related issues.
  • Maintaining molding machines and related process equipment.
  • Managing tool changes for testing, development and validation of new tooling components.
  • Using a variety of inspection equipment, the company evaluated the part quality.

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED or higher (completed and verified prior to start)
  • Three (3) years of technical experience with injection molding, including press setup, press maintenance and tool maintenance.

Other qualifications that could help you succeed in this role include:

  • An associate's degree in a technical field related to molding or automation.
  • What is it like to have experience with Sodick and/or Arburg molding machines?
  • High precision, tight tolerances and micro injection moldings with high precision.
  • Experience with inspection and lab equipment including optical microscopes, coordinate measuring machines and control systems.
  • Experience with automated production processes or equipment.
  • With attention to detail and problem solving skills, a strong analytical ability is a must.
  • What is the best way to improve your communication skills?
  • The understanding of injection molding tools and auxiliary equipment.

Working location : St. Paul, MN and also Minneapolis, MN?

Travel: may include up to 1 0 percent domestic, international travel.

Relocation assistance: may be authorized.

The expected Compensation Range for this position is $93,037 -- $103,728. This range includes base pay plus variable incentives, but not limited to factors including the candidate's relevant knowledge, training and skills; in addition, this role may be eligible for a number of perks (e.g., Medical, dental & vision, Health Savings Accounts, health care) based on a good faith estimate for that position.
