DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Medical Records Examiner, you are responsible for reviewing and evaluating medical necessity, appropriateness, quality, quantity, and adequacy of medical care and services rendered by providers under or on behalf of the Pennsylvania Medical Assistance Program. In addition, you are responsible for selection of cases based on reports generated by the Fraud and Abuse Detection System as well as tips, complaints and referrals generated by both internal and external stakeholders.

Information regarding the work schedule and other relevant details:


  • A full-time job that lasts 37.5 hours per week.
  • Between Monday and Friday, work is from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; lunch is served from 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to three (3) days a week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
  • Travel as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum experience and training requirements:.


  • Three years of professional experience in the field of medical assistance, health care services, or human services; or
  • A corresponding range of exposure and education.'
Necessary Special Requirements:
  • An active license from the Pennsylvania Board of Nursing or a non-renewable, temporary practice permit issued by the Pennsylvania board of nursing are necessary for this position. What is the final procedure? The applicant must be aware of their current location.
  • The Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing requires all employees with non-renewable temporary practice permits to become Registered Nurses within a one (1) year period. What is the maximum duration for this?
  • The role requires an active license to drive.'
