Nature of Work
The fundamental reason this position exists is to perform skilled work in the service of maintaining and repairing commercial and residential buildings and structures, performing various trades (i.e., carpentry, electrical, painting and plumbing), performing skilled labouring work, fulfilling services as a lead worker on maintenance projects and conducting inspections.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent and three years of experience in building maintenance, repair and work utilizing several building trade skills such as electrical, plumbing, carpentry and painting.
NOTE : Qualifying education, training and experience that provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.
Special Requirements
Must have and maintain a valid driver's license as needed to travel for different projects and to different work locations, must be on-call as necessary to perform special or emergency tasks. In addition, employees may be required to submit to background checks depending on their assigned job location.
Kind of Examination
Applications are being accepted to fill one (1) vacancy and any vacancies that may occur during the life of the register. The current vacancy is with the Montgomery County Detention Facility. Applicants will be screened and qualified based upon education and experience as shown on the application and minimally qualifying questionnaire. For this reason, applicants are urged to fill in the application form and minimally qualifying questionnaire completely providing detailed information concerning the kinds of jobs they have held, the dates they held them, where and exactly what their duties were. If more than five qualified applications are received, the supplemental questionnaire will be used to rank applicants. Tied scores will not be broken. If there are five or less qualified applicants, they will be considered equally qualified and placed on the register in alphabetical order.
