The Juvenile Justice Specialist 6 title has a Special Entrance Rate of $2,109.60 biweekly.

This position is assigned to the Lafayette Regional Office, which covers the following secure care facilities in this area: Martinville Detention Center and Cassandra Center for Juvenile Bunkie The position may be required to work at any one of the aforementioned secure cares facilities.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent plus three years of experience in a normative, correctional, mental health or group home setting with responsibility for one or more of the following: rehabilitation of delinquent young persons, clinical care, custody or security.

OR

Three years of experience in probation and parole.

SUBSTITUTIONS:

One year of continuous employment in any field will substitute for the high school diploma or GED.

JOB DISTINCTIONS:

Devises from Juvenile Justice Specialist 5 in responsibility for second line supervision in serving as primary assistant to the Corrections Lieutenant Colonel (JuvenileJustice Specialist 7).

Unlike Lieutenant Colonel (Juvenile Justice Specialist) Jeffrey, who has no managerial responsibilities other than the total security/therapeutic program.

Examples of Work

Supervises and leads subordinate staff in the provision of a safe environment, and appropriate therapeutic aspects of youth care.

Makes on-site visits and inspections.

Reviews team report submitted to security office. )

Consults with subordinate staff and supervisors. :

Performs consulting sessions with other disciplines.

Reviews of youth care monitoring results done in accordance with the quality assurance plan of the security department.

Assists in the development of policies and procedures related to security and youth care by complying with requests for consultations from senior management, members of other academic disciplines, and members of committees of the appropriate committees.

As requested by the supervisor or the administration, he assists with special projects.

Completes performance planning and evaluations and identifies educational programs which will enhance the subordinate's job abilities.

Provides on-the-job training or assigns individuals to appropriate educational programs.

Documents employee problems and confers with Lieutenant Colonel (Juvenile Justice Specialist 7) regarding appropriate action to be taken.

He serves as the Principal Assistant to the Lieutenant Colonel (Juvenile Justice Specialist) and assumes the duties of that position in his absence.

As requested, he develops and serves as an instructor in educational programs both inside and outside.
