Position Summary

The incumbent performs scheduled and non-scheduled maintenance services on company equipment in the field, tank farms, pump stations, and other telecommunications facilities without a working knowledge of electrical and SCADA equipment. In addition, the incumbent often works without Supervision, oversees contractors, and may perform work on the pipeline.

Responsibilities

  • From start to finish, manage electrical projects.
  • A thorough understanding of network and control center needs is associated with all aspects of data acquisition in field operations.
  • As needed, make program changes to control systems controlling station operations via various PLC manufactures.
  • Ability to perform advanced programming of various programmable controllers and program various HMI's used in area.
  • Able to diagnose all communications hardware, including radio equipment, satellites and leased circuits.
  • Data Communications: Working knowledge of Data Communications interfaces and protocols, familiar with point-to-point, multi-drop and repeaters.
  • Proficient in electrical and mechanical systems related to the industrial process.
  • Revise and update station layouts.
  • Troubleshoot high voltage switch gear.
  • Good leadership skills and the ability to train others. Interacts with and leads contractors as required:
  • In accordance with engineering drawings, install conduit and associated wiring in conjunction with electrical systems.
  • Completes all necessary paperwork for regulatory compliance on I&E equipment.
  • Schedules and performs inspections, maintenance and control of electrical equipment at substations, pump stations, valve and manifold sites, etc.
  • Inspect and repair AC/DC equipment, including emergency back-up power devices.
  • Proficient in basic programming abilities of various programmable control systems.
  • Install, program and troubleshoot various electronic metering devices.
  • As assigned, he also performs other duties.

Qualifications

  • What is the minimum high school diploma or equivalent?
  • A technical degree is a plus.
  • Experience is required, but not required.
  • Effective interpersonal skills. Strong communication and self-confidence.
  • How do I understand electrical drawings, technical operations manuals, perform load studies and related calculations?
  • QC experience a plus
  • Proficient with different electrical test equipment i.e., voltmeters, meters and scope tests.
  • Knowledge of basic NEC code requirements and specifications associated with pipeline operations as well as all applicable governmental regulations.
  • Proficient with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), flow computers, UPS systems, inverters and back-up battery systems, proficiency in troubleshooting and repair of motor starters/capacitors, field test gauges, transmitters, relay controlled field devices, LMFT units and associated timers and controls, familiarity with electrical theory and electrical skills.
  • What is the experience with high voltage electrical systems and safety?
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Experience in switching gears and substation work.
  • Knowledgeable in all types of protective devices associated with pipeline operations, including mechanical and solid state protective relays, breakers, motor windings, RTDs, temperature transmitters and vibration sensors/recorders, and associated devices.
