Do you have experience with employment liability issues? The Utah Division of Human Resource Management (DHRM) is seeking a Human Resources Specialist Health and Human Services Department of Health and Safety: How can we provide high quality HR services? Field Office. As a member of this team, you will consult with the DHHS management on key HR liability issues, including corrective action, performance plans, and workplace investigations.

This position can be considered for flexible telework and in office one day a week required. The position is located at: DHHS MASOB 195 North Carolina Street, Suite 115, Albuquerque, NM 87104.

All candidates selected to fill vacancies in the Division of Human Resource Management (DHRM) may be reassigned, based on business need, to other work locations within the Salt Lake or Utah counties.

Example of Duties

Principle Duties:
The Human Resources Specialist's main duties and responsibilities are to:

  • Consult with assigned management on employee discipline and performance improvement.
  • Conduct and manage investigations related to complaints, grievances, misconduct, harassment, etc.
  • Assist and coach supervisors, managers, and employees with related employee issues, including corrective and disciplinary actions, terminations, and other employee issues.
  • Coordinate and process the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), long-term disability (LTD) and workers' compensation claims.
  • Provide HR related training to the agency's staff and management. )
  • Work with agency management and assist the attorney general, state risk management or EEOC with grievances, lawsuits, or claims filed with the Utah Anti-Discrimination and Labor Law (UALM) and the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (ESOC).
  • Write documentation for the consumer agency on demotions and dismissals.
  • Write documentation and maintain confidential records for management regarding adverse actions, keep case logs to provide periodic reports on adverse actions to HR director.
  • The agency reviews complaints of Title VII violations.
  • Provide training for investigators performing internal investigations and conduct training to managers on HR rules, policy, and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, and/or rules, standards, policy, etc.

  • possesses professional human resource experience or an equivalent combination of higher education and/or professional human resources experience.
