New Job Heavy Equipment Operator I/Landfill Utility In Maine

Responsibilities

Working conditions are performed with a minimum of instruction and little supervision in the operation of heavy and light equipment and class B trucks for construction activities related to Hazzard, after a reasonable period of time and training to become familiar with the job responsibilities. '

For the purposes of this job description, three pieces of equipment are included in this class: front-end loader, bulldozer, a variety of smaller heavy equipment and farm type tractor with attachments, MagVac Vacuum Machine. An employee in that class shall also be skilled in operation of Class B trucks.

Hours

The standard workweek is from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and hours will vary in the winter. "

Requirements

How do I interact effectively and courteously with coworkers and the public?

Knowledge of equipment (both manual and heavy equipment), hand and power tools, materials, methods and practices related to the solid waste facility or public works operations. )

Knowledge of materials, methods, and appropriate tools used in winter maintenance activities related to sanding, plowing, and snow/ice removal.

Skill in controlling operations of equipment and systems.

The ability to see details at a distance and react quickly if needed to avoid potential problems or hazards.

ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions, plans, sketches and drawings.

In the absence of a supervisor, the ability to remain productive.

ability to recognize common occupational hazards and utilize safe work practices.

The ability to participate in the drug and alcohol testing program prescribed by the Florida Board of Education and the City of Augusta's Alcohol and Drug Policy.

Job Type: Full-time

Average pay: $21.48 - $26.59 per hour
