Examples of Work
GENERAL GUARD DUTIES:
Highly valuable property, such as public locks, state hospitals, school grounds, etc.
Patrols an assigned area.
Checks security of buildings and grounds.
People check on public water sources to determine whether they have proper identification and permits.
Checks identification of persons entering buildings or grounds.
Monitors alarms for signs of disturbances. )
Conducts preliminary investigations relevant to disturbances within an assigned area.
Interviews to restore peace.
TRAFFIC GUARD DUTIES:
DIRECTS TRAFFIC AT OFFICE BUILDINGS.
Two trucks are dispatched to remove the parked vehicles.
Supervises students and temporarily employed employees as required.
Issues of traffic citations and parking violations.
Responds to various emergencies and problems that impact traffic control.
He erects barriers, temporary signs and lights for parking enforcement. )
Moves barricades and signs.
Before implosion, make an inventory of vehicles.
Impounds vehicles and releases vehicles from impoundment, including completion of auditable forms and accounting for monies collected.
Performs parking and traffic surveys.

Performs simple maintenance on departmental equipment, including vehicles, electronic access gates and cash machines.
Provides explanation of complex and unique traffic and parking rules.
Serves as a public information source for activities such as athletic events, conferences, and performance events.
