Full Description
The Office of Economic Opportunity is seeking to hire a research analyst who will be part of a small, enthusiastic data collection team working on behalf of the Bureau of Labor Statistics to compile employer business information for workers covered by state and federal unemployment insurance laws.
- Daily phone calls, emails, and faxes are used to solicit employer responses and follow up on reported data.
- Reviewing business descriptions and matching them with industry codes.
- Data is entered into a database and checked for accuracy. '
- Verifying employer business information, such as employment and wage totals, industry descriptions, mailing addresses and contact numbers.
- Participating in online, offline and out-of-state training.
What qualifications must a qualified applicant have?
- Microsoft Word and Excel are excellent skills.
- Basic computer skills in organizing files, emailing and scanning documents.
- Can make accurate arithmetic calculations.
- Effective, professional communication with colleagues and the public. In person, on the phone, and by email.
- Can track and adhere to schedule requirements.
- Can recognize atypical data and resolve issues by contacting the source.
- Willingness to seek and obtain necessary assistance when necessary regarding coding situations, including QA/CEW.
- Can work both independently and collaboratively, while adhering to standard work processes of QA.
The following qualifications are not required, but would be welcome assets, and candidates with any of them should note them in their resume and cover letter:
- Understanding the Northern American Industry Classification System.
- Skills in other languages than English. )
- Basic understanding of statistics, such as sampling, central tendency and estimation.
