Full Description
This position is responsible for maintaining the quality control measures in the DNA lab. These measures include but are not limited to: reagent preparation, quality control of reagents, instrument maintenance, stocking lab areas and ordering lab supplies.
Essential Functions
Essential functions are fundamental, core functions common to all positions in the class series and are not intended as an exhaustive list of all job duties for any one position. - Prepares media, reagents and tests. Computes quantity and measures:
- Ensures orderly and environmentally correct storage of media, reagents, supplies, and samples.
- The system ensures technical correctness, sterile treatment and solvent treatment for equipment.
- Conducts lab tests and analysis.
- Operates and maintains various laboratory equipment.
- Requirements, Inspections and Distribution of Laboratory Supplies.
- Records information on manual/computerized records, logs and related requests for analysis. Sample shipping, shipping supplies/equipment, and status of water supply system.
- Packs and ships, picks up or delivers supplies, samples and equipment.
- I can perform phlebotomy to obtain blood samples for examination.
Job Requirement Series
Requirements for a Laboratory Technician?
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating
competence in each of the following areas:

Knowledge of math such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, distribution, percentages or decimals.

Knowledge of laboratory practices such as testing, sample handling, preparing media, reagents and samples, transportation or storage.
Knowledge of chemistry.
Requirements for a Laboratory Technician III?
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating
competence in each of the following areas:

One year experience in chemical or biological laboratory testing.
-
One year experience in using lab equipment and instrumentation.
-
One year experience in laboratory sample handling.
-
6 months experience in performing mathematical and statistical computation on laboratory test data.
