Job Summary/objective:
The court provides a wide variety of clerical and administrative support to the municipality.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
None.
Essential Functions and Duties/Responsibilities:
Assists in the coordination of court matters with defendants, businesses, attorneys, city solicitors, police, fire, and bonding companies on all levels of the criminal justice system.
The assistant will assist in receiving, storing and accounting for monies for fines, forfeiture, cash bond returns or other court receipts.
Receives, logs and indexes all incoming filings andcitations. Responds to written inquiries, telephone calls and requests for review of the submitted materials.
Counts, confirms and prepares cash for deposit and receipt. Enters into computer systems a wide variety of data files.
As needed by defendants to facilitate their response to a citation or complaint, the agency initiates related paperwork.
Performs the primary filing of all papers, dockets, index cards, and case files related to cases.
Provides files for court use, processes timely notices of lawsuits, trials and hearings.
As assigned, works shifts.
The company responds to requests from the municipal judge, the city attorney, and others for assistance and information.
Performs a variety of courtroom related tasks, such as swearing in witnesses and opening court sessions, and marking exhibits on display at the end of each day in court cases. Can serve as a model for female defendants.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

considerable knowledge of general office procedures, principles and practices; knowledge about computers and computer software including data processing; specialized court data bases and spreadsheets. [email protected] considerable and unambiguous knowledge related to municipal court functions?
Skill in operating a list of tools and equipment, skill in research and storing data; skill in using a spreadsheet; skills in using specialized court service databases and word processing. Customer service techniques are used for this task.
- Ability to effectively communicate with the public on a one-to-one basis, ability to maintain effective working relations with employees and other departments; ability to create accurate records; ability to enter data and type.
Possession of or ability to obtain and maintain a GCIC/NCIC Certification.
- The skill of speaking English and Spanish (both bilingual) is preferred to have the ability to perform said functions.
Education, Credentials, Experience:
What is the high school diploma or equivalent?
Considerable experience in performing secretarial, clerical or related work.
Any equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.
· Must be fingerprinted.
Must obtain certification as a Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC)/Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS), Network Terminal Operator within thirty days of employment.
The annual Municipal Clerk's Examination of the Institute for Criminal Justice Education (ICJE) is held in the city.
If a valid Georgia driver's license (C) and a satisfactory motor vehicle record (MVR), then possession of a valid state car is illegal.
