Classification Summary

The Goodhue County Health and Human Services is seeking qualified applicants for a full time (40 hours per week) County Agency Social Worker - Child Protection Services.

Under general supervision, this position provides social work services for the protection and care of children; performs related work as assigned.

Examples of Duties
Goodhue County Examples of Work:
  • Conducts interviews with potential clients during induction.
  • Moreover, he/she performs assessments and legal investigations on child protection, and/or coordinates with child safety families to address safety concerns and mitigate potential risks.
  • Provides assistance to individuals and families in order to improve safety.
  • He works in partnership with the local police, the county attorney, and the district court to handle cases of child abuse and neglect.
  • Provides written reports and testimony to the court as required.
  • Takes into custody and supervises children in foster care.'
  • Provides comprehensive and timely documentation.'

Minimum Qualifications
  • An undergraduate degree obtained from an approved four-year institution with a concentration in social work, psychology, sociology, or corresponding fields. A major.

or

  • At least one year of work experience as a social worker in either governmental or non-governmental agencies, along with an undergraduate degree from any recognized four-year college or university with a major in any discipline. Additionally, applicants must have at least one year's work experience in a social work setting, preferably in a government or non-government setting.

You may apply before graduating, but no more than 60 days prior to receiving your Bachelor's Degree.

The examination will consist of a rating of training and experience based on the information you provide in your application and your responses to the supplemental questions included in the application process.
