Job Summary

King County Housing Authority (KCHA), an independent municipal corporation, is a nationally-recognized leader in affordable housing. The Administrative Project Manager will play a key role in the department, both by directly managing projects and by supporting our team and stakeholders in keeping projects moving forward. The successful candidate will be highly organized, an excellent communicator, and enjoy working in multiple content areas simultaneously, applying a versatile skillset and learning constantly. Researching a topic, leading a continuous improvement initiative, revising a policy, designing a workflow, preparing a presentation, leading a project team meeting or backing up the work of a specialist on our team could all be part of your week. The Administrative Project Manager reports to the Vice President of Strategic Operations.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for overseeing, managing, and directing projects and staff; reviewing, developing, and implementing new procedures, policies, workflows, systems, and approaches; identifying issues and project scope; creating timelines; using appropriate tracking tools and documentation; applying appropriate methods to ensure project success.
  • Facilitates the alignment of project stakeholders; evaluates stakeholder demands; establishes roles and responsibilities necessary for project implementation; modifies project operations and communication to ensure project success.
  • Constructs and applies financial statements; obtains supplementary materials and equipment for projects as required.
  • As required, develops and revises policy and procedure drafts for projects.
  • Presents and produces presentations relating to assigned assignments.'
  • Reviews and assists in the creation of contracts, leases, and agreements.
  • Provides backup for various functions within the Support Services Department and trains. Additionally,
  • Working in conjunction with the Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion to prevent mental or physical barriers that may arise from cultural differences or differences in language, communication, etc. throughout the lifecycle of projects.

Qualifications and Competencies

Required Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s Degree AND
  • Considerable experience coordinating large scale projects and administrative systems for an organization OR
  • The necessary expertise, aptitude, and qualifications required to perform the fundamental duties of this position, based on experience and education.'

  • Understands technical aspects of the position and continuously builds knowledge, keeping up to date on the substantive and procedural aspects of the position including the ability to:
    • Interpret floor plans; contracts and leases; RFPs, work flow charts (such as schematic diagrams and answers), Gant charts, and architectural drawings.
    • Use standard business calculations, calculate financial figures, and make uncomplicated forecasts;
    • Understand and implement governmental accounting procedures, prepare and maintain invoices, and manage financial statements.[]
  • Capacities to manage, plan, and control projects, ensuring effective utilization of technical and administrative resources.
  • Having proficiency in efficient self-management techniques and the aptitude to handle multiple objectives, projects, groups, or activities at once, making sound decisions on time allocation and prioritizing organization and work independently.
  • Clearly and effectively communicates both verbally and in writing by actively listening and sharing relevant information.
    • Having proficiency in writing and preparing written documents; possessing strong editing and proofreading abilities;

Special Requirements:
  • Validated and cleared the background check of both drivers and criminal records with approval.

Salary & Benefits:
Salary range is $83,054.00 to $120,429.00, with a midpoint of $101,742.00. New hires typically receive between minimum and midpoint, however, we may go slightly higher based on experience, internal equity and market. Salary is negotiable. Work Environment:

After initial onboarding, this role will have the opportunity to work remotely up to 60% in accordance with the KCHA's flexible work arrangements; however, remote work conditions will be reviewed on a regular basis based on business and program need. The ability to report to the Central Office in Tukwila may still be required on occasion. Some local travel may be required to support KCHA business needs.

Physical Requirements:
