Position Overview

The Illinois Department of Juvenile Justice is looking for a candidate to serve as an Administrative Assistant, who has excellent organizational skills, shows great attention to detail and will be able to process information and materials in a timely manner. A background in policy and procedure would be a plus for our ideal candidate. This position serves as administrative support to the Superintendent.

Job Responsibilities

  • As an administrative support to the superintendent, I see.
  • The youth staff provides guidance and direction to the staff in resolving problems encountered within the scope of the administrative office.
  • Directs and coordinates audits to assess and make recommendations for improvements based on system testing, analysis.
  • Local Area Network (LAN) administrator and mini-computer system coordinator serves as the coordinator.
  • As a liaison with Center management regarding the audits in assigned areas, he serves.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned, which are reasonably within the scope of the duties listed above.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Knowledge, skill and mental development equal to the completion of four (4) years of college, preferably with courses in public or business administration.
  • One year of experience in a public or private organization requires, either completion of an approved training program or request for information''.

What are the preferred qualifications in order of significance?

  • Provide at least two (2) years of service as a clerical assistant to the executive level.
  • At least two (2) years of professional experience is required to compile and prepare administrative records and statistics.
  • At least one year of experience in professional research and development of reports for auditing purposes. '
  • At least one year of experience troubleshooting minor issues with local computerized systems and software. '
  • At least five years of experience using computerized systems/hardware and various types of computer software programs. '
  • At least three (4) years of experience receiving, developing and working with sensitive information ensures confidentiality.
  • At least two (2) years of experience solving problems and providing guidance in a professional setting.

Conditions of Employment

  • IDOC/IDJJ requires the ability to pass an IDOC background check.
  • Requires ability to pass a drug screen, and the use of unauthorized drugs by an employee is prohibited, regardless of position.
