Position Information

Serves as the principal technical resource on matters relating to the planning, operation, and servicing of swimming pools, water features, and related equipment and appurtenances; plans and conducts in-service training relating to the operation and maintenance of swimming pools and water features; monitors related sanitation and safety standards; and performs other related duties as required.

Current Vacancy: There is 1 vacancy with the Department of Parks and Recreation, Parks Maintenance and Recreation Services Division. Work hours are Monday - Friday, 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM. This position coordinates and conducts diverse administrative and specialized activities involving swimming pool maintenance and electrical pump repair and maintenance programs; serves as principal advisor on matters relating to the overall maintenance, repair, renovation, and planning of swimming pool facilities, fountains, ponds, and other water features; performs other related duties as required.

Special Working Conditions: Possible exposure to acids and chlorine; heavy lifting and carrying; may be required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays; will serve as a Disaster Response worker during declared emergencies.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

At time of application, you must be a citizen, national, or permanent resident alien of the United States or a non-citizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Equivalent to graduation from high school. Responsible work experience that demonstrated the ability to perform the essential functions of the job may be substituted for education.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
Two years of experience in supervising the operation and servicing of large commercial swimming pools and appurtenant equipment including the pumping, filtration and circulation systems.

Such experience must have demonstrated knowledge of the operation and maintenance requirements of swimming pools and water features as they affect pumping, filtration, and circulation systems; methods and procedures for conducting chemical tests on pool water; characteristics and uses of swimming pool chemicals, OSHA and State Department of Health requirements pertaining to personal safety equipment and public swimming pools; and the ability to develop and implement guidelines involving the overall planning, operation, repair, and maintenance of swimming pools, water features, and related equipment; review and develop maintenance policies, practices, and procedures; develop maintenance guidelines and schedules; develop and administer repair and maintenance contracts; plan and conduct training classes; keep records and prepare reports.

LICENSE REQUIREMENT:
Valid driver's license (Type 3/automobile), prior to appointment.
