Your Impact:

At Jacobs, advanced facilities simplify our everyday lives, enabling technology to connect us. We push the limits of what’s possible to make the world smarter, more connected, and more sustainable.

Our Electronics team is seeking a Sustainability Specialist to provide technical and strategic sustainability solutions to the pursuit, design, and delivery of major projects in the datacenter and semiconductor manufacturing sectors. This position is in Portland, OR but remote U.S. locations will also be considered.

Your role will be integrated in a diverse sustainability team, working on a spectrum of U.S. and international projects, where sustainability goals require a broad understanding of LEED rating systems and jurisdictional requirements. You will coordinate sustainability certification deliverables, work closely with architecture and engineering teams to understand design intent, maintain established documentation procedures and standards, and provide quality-assurance for sustainability measures during construction administration.

You will play an integral role in mentoring junior staff, forming long-term relationships with colleagues and clients, and contributing to sustainability strategy development for new contracts. You will be a positive communicator who can confidently lead projects without direct supervision. You will be a creative problem solver who will coordinate the work of various project teams to ensure exceptional results.

At Jacobs, we’re partnering across the globe to create the best project outcomes by maximizing the design, digital technology, and support capabilities of our Global Integrated Delivery (GID) teammates. By joining Jacobs, you’ll commit to supporting and engaging with these teams, as we work to build a company like no other.

Here’s What You’ll Need:
  • Professional degree in Engineering, Architecture, Planning, Sustainability, or similar from an accredited program
  • LEED Accredited Professional with BD+C Specialty (credential must be active)
  • 5-10 years of professional experience with buildings-related design and construction projects
  • At least 3 years of experience as LEED Project Administrator on numerous projects, including those under v4/4.1 with completed certification(s)
  • Detailed knowledge of sustainability and integrated design practices
  • Strong organizational skills to help facilitate multiple projects
  • Effective leadership, verbal and written communication skills, creative problem-solving abilities, and client-relationship building skills
  • Ability to effectively coordinate with architectural and engineering project team members, both internal and external
  • Demonstrated knowledge of strategies and systems related to occupant wellness, energy efficiency, decarbonization, embodied-carbon analysis, indoor air quality strategies, materials optimization, stormwater management best practices, and other common topics
  • Experience in project management and delivery on sustainability projects and programs working in a client-facing role
  • Professional experience writing and developing reports, presentations and delivering workshops for both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience in the preparation and management work plans for sustainable design work, schedules, budgets, staffing projections, and fees for large projects
  • Ability to stay current with regulations and trends in the industry at a national level
  • Must display enthusiasm, motivation, and be goal-oriented
  • Must reside in a North American time zone

Ideally, you'll also have:

  • Additional formal education in buildings or infrastructure-related discipline, or sustainability/resilience, such as a Master’s degree or certification courses
  • Experience creating and working with client- or geographic-specific design standards
  • Additional sustainability- or energy-centric credentials (WELL AP, Envision SP, Living Future Accreditation, Certified Passive House Consultant, etc.) and related project experience
  • Experience with fast paced, accelerated project delivery
  • Ability to travel, as needed (approximately two weeks per year)
