SPECIAL ACCOMMODATIONS:

Human Resources will submit all candidates to LRPD personnel for a preliminary background check. If any of the following are found during the preliminary background, the candidate will be automatically disqualified:
- Invalid driver's license
- Prior felony conviction - NOTE: Expunged and/or pardoned felonies still disqualify candidates from employment as a Police Officer.
- Prior domestic abuse conviction
- Excessive traffic points accrued within the past three years.

Police Officer Benefits
- Employees shall accrue the equivalent of twenty (20) sick days (based on an eight hour day) annually.
- Employees will accrue the equivalent of fifteen (15) vacation days (based on an eight hour day) annually.
- Discretionary days are granted after five years of continuous service.
- Longevity pay is calculated for employees with 1-15 years of service at the rate of $5 per month times the number of years of service. Employees with 16-25 years of service are calculated at the rate of $6 per month times the number of years of service.
- Education Incentive Pay - After Academy graduation, police officers will receive education incentive pay (EIP) for fifteen (15) or more hours of college credit.
- Bilingual or second language differentials available.
- Residency incentives available of up to $5,000.
- Academy graduation incentives available of up to $10,000.
- Shift differentials paid for hours worked after 3:00 p.m.
- Uniforms are furnished by the City.
- The City pays a portion of the total cost of health insurance and a life insurance policy for all full-time employees.
- Health Insurance - Coverage for an employee's dependents is available at the employee's option; should an employee choose to cover his/her dependent(s), the City currently pays part of the total cost of this additional coverage.
- Life Insurance - The benefit amount of the City paid policy for Police Officer is an amount equal to the employee's annual salary or $25,000 whichever is greater (from the first day of hire).
- Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) - The value of the City paid policy for Police Officers is an amount equal to the employee's annual salary or $25,000 whichever is greater (from the first day of hire).
- Retirement and disability benefits are provided through the State of Arkansas Local Police and Fire Retirement System (LOPFI) program.
