Full Description
The City of Topeka is seeking a dedicated individual to serve as its Infrastructure Communications Specialist. This position is responsible for the organization, development, and implementation of local educational programs and community relations initiatives for the City's Public Works and Utilities departments. Additionally, this position is responsible for overseeing public communications for major capital projects, collecting information and preparing public-facing reports and presentations, and managing media materials, website pages and social media accounts.
What you'll do:
- Organize, publicize, and attend public meetings.
- Initiate and create engaging social media content and videos.
- Maintain websites for the Public Works and Utilities Departments.
- Serve as a liaison between city departments, the media, businesses, and the public.
The ideal candidate:
- Is knowledgeable in communication strategies, marketing, and information strategies.
- Has strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Is a confident communicator and presenter.
- Possesses excellent project management and time management skills.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in public administration, communications, public relations, marketing or a related field required. Minimum of two years of experience in customer service, public involvement, advertising, public relations, journalism or a related field. Must be insurable within the standards set by the City of Topeka’s insurance carrier and possess and maintain a valid Kansas driver's license.

Annual entry salary: Up to $65,000 DOQ
