The Corporate Accounting Manager will be responsible for US GAAP general accounting postings, general ledger account balance analysis, and the preparation and review of account reconciliations. In addition, this role will be responsible for accounting of IT costs across the business, providing visibility to costs incurred compared to budget to the IT Director, liaise with the IT procurement manager, and assisting in budget preparation for the fiscal year. The Corporate Accounting Manager will also be responsible for the management and completion of quarterly and annual Census and Statistical Reporting. This role will oversee two to four staff / senior accountants.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Month End Close: Ensure close transactions are completed timely and in accordance with the month end calendar. This includes responsibility of booking payroll, vacation, and corporate department accruals, group insurance, workers compensation and others. This position will be responsible for overseeing the monthly close administrative process and provide support for ongoing business accounting transactions. Further, this role reviews monthly balance sheet and income statement fluctuations for reasonableness and investigates discrepancies to ensure all transactions have been recorded in the proper period.
- Account Reconciliation and Analysis: This position prepares and reviews account reconciliations for 3 primary North America reporting entities on a monthly basis. For any balance not properly supported, this role will be responsible for following up with the appropriate person to obtain documentation for the reconciliation. For the SAP environment, this role is responsible for maintaining accounts and clearing transactions on a timely basis.
- Census and Statistical Reporting: Creates and completes templates for quarterly and annual Census and Statistical Reporting with corresponding support calculations for balance sheet and income statement line items. Develops new ad hoc reporting based on reporting requirements including legal entity level and operational activity. This position will manage the process of completing all census and statistical reporting, either as an individual contributor or reviewer, through the final submission process.
- Internal Control and Audit: Participates in the audit process by preparing external audit requests including walkthroughs, general ledger detail schedules, transaction support, and coordinating requested documentation with departments and plant controllers. Assist in the maintenance of internal controls over the accounting and monthly reconciliation process.
- IT Accounting Support: Work directly with the IT Director to gain an understanding of contracts, vendors utilized, and costs expected to ensure transactions are accounted for in the general ledger in accordance with the budget, proper accruals are recorded at the end of each month, and the IT management team has overall visibility of budget to actual results. In addition, assist the IT Director in preparation of the annual budget.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- Minimum of five (5) years in a corporate accounting function at a large company (public or private)
- Proficiency with SAP ERP functionality (version ECC)
- Strong organizational and time management skills in order to meet deadlines
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work across multiple geographic locations of the company
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze details and identify financial issues.
- Team player capable of multi-tasking and providing results within deadlines.
- Must be able to act as an individual contributor but also a manager / reviewer.
- Complete knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel, including proficiency in Vlookup and pivot table functions in order to analyze data as required
- CPA preferred
- Minimum two (2) years of prior leadership experience with a team of direct reports
Desired:

- Experience with account reconciliation software
- Background in developing and maintaining controls surrounding the general ledger and account reconciliation process
