GENERAL PURPOSE
Under the general direction of the Clerk of the District Court or their designee, performs a variety of skilled clerical, secretarial, and customer service work requiring moderate responsibility and independent judgment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with Officials, County employees, attorneys, judges, other agencies, and the general public.
Extract alphabetic, numeric, or symbolic data from documents, and accurately enter.
Data enter judgments from transcript of judgments cases into department-specific programs.
Evaluate submitted petitions (e.g. Protection Orders, civil, divorce, criminal) for appropriate recording and processing per department procedures.
Accept, review, examine, code, and process cases, both electronic and document court filings (e.g. new cases, civil pleadings, and criminal pleadings), and notify applicable parties if items need corrections.
Code, prepare for scanning, and enter new cases and pleadings into the case management system.
Monitor E-filing system and review for accuracy, accept, decline or process per department policies.
Assist customers: receive filings, review, examine and determine acceptability of documents per requirements.
Accepts monies, issue receipts for funds paid to the court for items including, but not limited to, fines, fees, and court costs.
Verify daily fund receipts of office funds; notify management of any discrepancies.
Prepare and issue record of payment (e.g. court costs, fines) from applicable systems for customers as requested.
Read and monitor pleadings and case dockets for hearing and status, and take appropriate action (e.g. set down hearing dates).
Verify, collect fees, and distribute passport documents to appropriate departments.
Issue civil and criminal processes.
Perform record searches as requested.
Process authenticated/certified copies of Decrees and other Court Orders from the public and Child Support Enforcement Office as requested/directed.
Monitor for submitted electronic orders; review for accuracy and accept or decline; process per department procedures.
Properly screens calls, correspondence, and customer inquiries, answering routine inquiries and referring other than routine inquiries to the appropriate public official or staff member.
Serve as a messenger between the Clerk of District Court Office and other offices as directed.
Review, maintain, and schedule calendars for judges' availability.
Prepare new cases, review and monitor the 'check out' system for court case files; and contact individuals who have not complied with returning files in an appropriate time frame.
Receive and prepare dockets and files for court use.
Assist with empanel jury selection.
Monitor, maintain, prepare, and print labels for encoding.
Retrieve and return court case files from archival storage.
Report to assigned work-site with regular, predictable, and consistent attendance.

Peripheral Duties
Serve as a member of various employee committees, as assigned.
Perform other duties as directed or assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
High school graduate or GED equivalent.
Two (2) years of bona fide work experience as an administrative/clerical support position.
Bookkeeping / reconciliation job experience preferred.
Current record of JUSTICE training desirable.
Must be able to type 35 net words per minute.
Must be able to enter data at 80 net key strokes per minute.

Special Requirements
Must successfully complete JUSTICE training within the first three (3) months of employment.
