The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) is seeking a motivated, compassionate individual with a desire to help others to coordinate the team member wellness programs. Our staff are our greatest resource and we prioritize their wellness in our mission to keep people safe.

The successful candidate will identify and coordinate programs related to wellness, including formal and informal communication, training events and incident response. The NDCS employs nearly 2,300 team members, throughout nine correctional facilities and Central Office, and houses approximately 5,200 inmates. Candidates will model the NDCS values of integrity, respect, compassion, growth, and excellence as we accomplish our mission.

Effective July 1, 2023, the pay rate will be $22.686 - $33.442 per hour. Pay rate may be commensurate with education and/or experience within fiscal constraints, if approved.

Examples of Work

Coordinate team member wellness to include developing, implementing and maintaining team member wellness program and employee resiliency program; leading the staff advocate program and special team members; serving as the NDCS contact for the state's Employee Assistance Program. This position will develop and conduct staff training, track and evaluate each program. Coordinates agency's SERVES team, which assist team members in managing the day-to-day and incident-driven stress associated with corrections work.

Qualifications / Requirements

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in public or business administration, accounting or any discipline related to the work assigned. One year of experience in planning, organizing, and implementing program administrative or business financial functions. Experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.

PREFERRED: Experience responding or managing post incident responses. Experience developing and implementing organizational wellness programs. Experience developing and implementing formal training programs.

OTHER: Must have a valid driver's license. Applicants accepting a job offer must pass the following pre-employment exams in this order: medical exam, and at a randomly announced time, pass a drug test. Once at the Staff Training Academy, must successfully complete the fully paid staff training program.
