Senior Clerk I - Police
SUMMARY
The incumbent, under the supervision of the Public Affairs Sergeant, is responsible for entering into the ICIS Records Management System offense, arrest, and incident reports generated by officers of the Fort Smith Police Department.The incumbent is also responsible for transcribing taped statements and assisting citizens.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Note: All City of Fort Smith positions require the employee to provide good customer service to both internal and external customers, maintain positive and effective working relationships with other City employees, and have regular and reliable attendance that is non-disruptive. Must show cooperation and respect to fellow employees and supervisors at all times.
1. Entry of various reports into the ICIS Records Management System.
2. Review electronically-submitted reports for accuracy, completeness, and compliancy with UCR and NIBRS standards.
3. Transcribing taped statements.
4. Assisting citizens whether on the phone or in person.
5. Locate and photocopy reports as needed by court personnel, media, citizens, etc.
6. Assist in other areas as needed.
7. Regular attendance and timeliness is required.

The incumbent must be able to perform all of the duties and functions as defined in the job description for Data Entry Clerk for the City of Fort Smith. The incumbent must have excellent communications skills in both oral and written forms. Organizational skills and close attention to details are required to successfully perform this job. The incumbent must have thorough operational knowledge of the use of a personal computer system, as well as various software packages. The incumbent must have excellent typing and reading comprehension skills, and demonstrate customer service skills. The department utilizes Criticall to accurately measure typing speed. The Incumbent must successfully type 45 WPM or more to be considered for the Data Entry Position.
