Position Summary
Provides leadership and direction for the Instructional Business Division in program and staff development with a focus on meeting quality outcomes for employers and students. Responsible for the oversight of all departmental budgets and promotion of all college programs and services. Reports directly to the Vice President of Instructional Services.
Essential Functions
1. Leads assigned programs in meeting all programmatic, institutional, and accrediting body goals for student enrollment, membership-hours, completion, placement, and licensure.
2. Identifies performance expectations, provides ongoing and timely feedback, and conduct formal and informal performance appraisals. Recommend individuals for hire, promotion, corrective action, and termination.
3. Conducts overall programmatic budget development, planning and management; monitor and control expenses.
4. Ensures that programs meet all institutional or programmatic accreditation standards.
5. Provides supervision, development, recognition, and management of faculty and staff.
6. Identifies and implements innovations that increase outcomes in meeting workforce needs of region.
7. Resolves student, faculty, and staff issues and complaints in an efficient manner.
8. Interfaces and coordinates with other college staff, employers, school districts, universities, and regional planning entities in areas that affect programs assigned.
9. Coordinates programmatic, faculty and staff schedules to meet the needs of the college, students and employers. Approval of leave and time cards.
10. Serves on college, community, and other teams as needed.
11. The incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education and Experience Requirements:
1. Must possess a bachelor’s degree and six years of combined work experience in a related technical occupation, career and technical education, or educational management. Master’s degree preferred.
2. A minimum of three years management/supervisory experience is required.
3. Must have proven managerial skills, demonstrated ability to manage, motivate, take corrective action, and evaluate employees, highly developed oral and written communication skills, possess highly developed budget management skills, and be literate in computer operation.
4. Must possess strong human relation skills; demonstrated team working and leadership skills in teaching, supervising, or directing people; facilitation, problem-solving, and time management skills; ability to work effectively at all organizational levels; ability to work under the pressure of high expectations and deadlines.
5. Career and technical education (CTE) experience is preferred.
6. Working knowledge of employer community and proven ability to work with private sector employers; ability to establish training programs/seminars is highly desirable.
7. Experience with successful programmatic and institutional accreditation processes preferred.
8. Demonstrated ability to work with individuals of all racial, ethnic, and socio-economic backgrounds.
9. Spanish speaking proficiency desirable.
Physical Requirements:
1. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform most work; however, there will be some walking; standing; bending; reaching; and carrying light items. Special physical demands are not required of the position.
2. Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.
Additional Information
Working Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. May include some evenings and weekends.
