Nature of Work
Under the General Supervision of the Health and Human Resources Program Manager II and Responsible for the Medicare/Hospital Program and for all assigned facilities, the individual performs work at the full-performance level by maintaining responsibility for carrying out complex professional function, necessary for the continuous day-to-day operation of the Medicare/Medicaid hospital program, including performing state licensure surveys and federal Medicare/Medicaid certification surveys as well as complaint investigations (in accordance with all applicable state and federal laws, rules, regulations, policies, protocols and procedures with respect to the regulation of numerous types of healthcare the regulation of numerous types of healthcare facilities), in addition to supervisory duties that will be routinely or periodically assigned by the Program Manager II.
This individual will have direct supervisory authority over the work performance of approximately four (4) Health Facility Surveyors and/or Health Facility Nurse Surveyors and one (1) office assistant and will liaison with and be backup supervisor to the clerical person not assigned to the same facilities. The ideal candidate will have at least three (3) years of current work experience as a Health Facility Surveyor or Health Facility Nurse Surveyor in the Medicare/Hospital Program, Nurse Surveyor in the Medicare/Hospital Program, have successfully completed the CMS Basic Surveyor Training and have at least three years of previous work experience in a health care setting.

Minimum Qualifications
Training: Master's degree from an accredited college or university in the area of assignment.
Substitution: One year of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience as described below may substitute for the Master's degree.
Experience: Three years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid professional experience in the area of assignment, one year of which must have been in a program administration capacity.
Substitution: Post-graduate training in the area of assignment may substitute through an established formula for the non-supervisory experience.
