The Position
Family Services Specialists assist families in achieving self-sufficiency; determine eligibility for a variety of public assistance and health related programs; and/or provide coordinated employment and training services including assessment, vocational guidance, support services, and education to clients; and/or provide child support enforcement services.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
The Family Services Specialist 3, within the Child Support Enforcement Program, is responsible for establishing and enforcing court orders pursuant to policy, state, and federal laws. The incumbent will assist families in achieving financial and medical support for their children. Duties will include researching established policies while applying laws; interviewing clients to elicit necessary information; processing case referrals accurately and timely; maintain a caseload; resolving routine problems, provide on-the-job training; preparing necessary legal documents, and working with outside agencies (i.e., District Attorney's Offices, private attorneys, eligibility staff, other child support offices). The incumbent may be required to prepare and present information to judicial officials to assist in establishing a child support obligation. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)

Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of paraprofessional experience performing social services case processing duties which included application of rules and regulations, conducting personal interviews with applicants for the purpose of exchanging information; documenting facts pertinent to program requirements, researching financial circumstances and determining eligibility; OR one year of experience as a Family Service Specialist II in Nevada State service in eligibility or employment and training; OR one year of experience as a Family Services Specialist I in Nevada State service performing the full scope of child support enforcement duties.

Additional Position Criteria

A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.

Must have and maintain a current Nevada Driver's License.
