Position Summary:

Start your career with the Kansas Department of Revenue (KDOR) with this home-based position! Do you live in rural Kansas and avoid applying for jobs in the larger cities due to the cost of commuting? KDOR is looking for employees in rural Kansas communities to “telework” for the state from their homes. This is a Customer Representative position on the Revenue Recovery/Customer Account Resolution (CAR) Team. As a Customer Representative you will take inbound calls and place outbound calls to taxpayers, both individual and businesses, to assist them in resolving issues with their tax accounts. This position will require an individual who is professional, has attention to detail, and is customer service oriented. This position will receive complete and thorough on-the-job training for the various taxes involved and processes which will be provided remotely.

This position is eligible to be a home-based position but will require a few days in the Topeka office for orientation, equipment pick up, and some initial training. KDOR will provide all equipment, however employee is responsible for home office workstation. Employee will be reimbursed for travel, lodging and food. Candidates working from home must have access to stable high speed internet services with download/upload and latency speeds to support our systems. If candidate prefers to work in the office, this position is based out of the Topeka office.

Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

Minimum Qualifications: Six months experience in interviewing, investigating or providing technical assistance to clients, customers, or the public. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.

Special Requirements: If employee is working remotely, they must have a locked secure location for all equipment and access to stable high speed internet services with download/upload and latency speeds to support our systems.

Preferred Skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, proofreading, editing, and attention to detail. Interpersonal, written, and oral communication and basic math skills. Ability to read, write, and speak both English and Spanish.

Preferred Experience: Experience with collections, finance, and/or accounting. Knowledge of Kansas and Federal income and business tax filing requirements and forms. The ability to communicate factual information and ideas in an impartial manner, while maintaining self-control under stressful conditions.

Post-Offer, Pre-employment Requirements: KBI and FBI fingerprint required due to access to Federal Tax Information files in KDOR systems.
