Job Summary
Barings seeks an individual to join its Global Private Finance team in Charlotte to focus on supporting the Portfolio Management function. This individual will work closely with Deal Teams, Portfolio Managers, Legal, & others to: run and maintain the allocation model for new deals, facilitate secondary trades, gauge capacity for new deals coming to Investment Committee, create and maintain financial models for capital planning and forecasting, and act as a liaison between the investment team and IT Solutions to automate reporting and optimize workflow. The individual will also contribute in other areas as needed. The position will be located in Barings’ Charlotte office.
In this role, the individual will gain valuable insight into 1) middle-market direct lending investments, 2) portfolio construction and optimization, and 3) interrelationships between businesses in a large, multi-strategy investment firm.
Primary Responsibilities
  • New deal allocations
  • Secondary trade transaction execution
  • Portfolio review material prep and distribution
  • Quarterly valuation work
  • Financial modeling / forecasting
  • General “help desk” for deal teams/analyst w/r/t to systems or process questions
  • Develop new and work with technology team to automate management and credit reporting
  • Enhance software system user interface and user experience
  • Ad hoc business presentations
  • Ultimate path to analyst on deal team should candidate show ability and interest after 2-3 year tenure
Qualifications
  • 0-3 years of experience
  • Bachelor’s degree (or planned completion date of December 2021)
  • Relevant industry experience within (or a demonstrated interest in) asset management / corporate finance / leveraged finance / private equity
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word in order to produce high quality presentations and analysis
  • Relationship management skills
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Strong time management, organizational, facilitation and collaboration skills
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn in a team environment
  • Demonstrate exceptional attention to detail and critical thinking
  • Ability and willingness to travel if needed
  • SQL preferred
