Position Summary:
This position is essential to ensuring that the facility has clean linen. Assists with inmate clothing and linen exchange daily. Examines clothing for wear and tear and proper tagging and performs research into claims of missing items before making decision to replace. Processes inmate Form 9 requests using inmate inventory records. Routinely examines clothing, blankets, linens, towels, and whites for signs of replacement for quality control. Ensures enforcement of applicable security requirements including but not limited to pat searches, key control, tool control, and movement control. Supervises, trains, and assists residents with the goal of compliance with safety standards and role-modeling pro-social behaviors, problem solving, and communication skills.
Job Responsibilities:
(may include but are not limited to the following)
- Receives, logs and checks in deliveries from vendors including all incoming freight. Ensures that an adequate level of all items is on hand.
- Fills requisitions for supplies requested from the storeroom and delivers to requisitioning departments – accomplished through issuing supplies from approved requisitions. Dispatches delivery personnel to the appropriate areas.
- Supervises a detail of inmates, and trains inmates in warehouse, safety and cleaning procedures. Maintains warehouse in a clean and orderly manner consistent with facility guidelines.
- Catalogues, records, accounts for, and inventories all property items purchased by, transferred to and given to the facility. It is this employee’s responsibility to maintain files and records required by the TCF, the Department of Corrections, the Division of Purchases, the Audit Division, and the State of Kansas. Maintains accurate and current inventory records of all non-expendable goods purchased by this facility.
- Assists the other storekeepers in their duties. Assumes the duties of the other storekeepers in their absence.
- Assists with supervision of inmates assigned to the laundry to ensure laundry procedures and established schedule is followed. Assist in the laundry as needed to cover staff shortages.
- Routinely examines clothing, blankets, liners, towels, and whites for signs of replacement for quality control. Replaces inmate clothing as deemed necessary to ensure the inmate has decent and fitting within the normal size items on hand. Provides inmate work clothing as inmates are assigned to work details. Replaces inmate bedding during weekly bedding exchange.
- Confers with the General Services Manager on problems, potential or existing, affecting his area of responsibility. Discusses needs and solutions to problems.
- Assists the other storekeepers in their duties. Assumes the duties of the other storekeepers in their absence.
Qualifications:
- Experience
- One (1) year experience in storekeeping, including receiving, inspecting, cataloging, and storing goods and maintaining inventory records. Education may be substituted for the required experience as determined relevant by the agency.
