This is the first level in the series.

Essential Functions

Essential functions are fundamental, core functions common to all positions in the class series and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all job duties for any one position in the class.   • Receives, stores, and issues supplies, clothing, equipment, perishable foods, frozen goods and hazardous materials.
  • Maintains records of supply transactions.
  • Verifies that supplies, clothing, equipment, perishable foods, frozen goods and hazardous materials received are listed on requisitions and invoices.
  • Checks supplies, clothing, equipment, perishable foods, frozen goods and hazardous materials in order to maintain proper stock levels.
  • Maintains physical inventory of goods.
  • Fills out supply forms such as requisitions, issue slips and receipt documents.
  • Delivers supplies to various institutional facilities or areas.
  • Trains and supervises inmates in storekeeping procedures and assigns work.

Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Storekeeper I
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:
  • Six months experience in record keeping.
  • Knowledge of inventory control such as ordering, receiving, tracking, storing and handling inventory; disbursing materials, supplies and equipment.
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License (not suspended, revoked or cancelled, or disqualified from driving).

This is a Casual/Seasonal position which is a non-pension eligible position without healthcare and/or other benefits.

Pre-employment Drug Testing: Upon a conditional offer, you must undergo pre-employment drug testing as part of the hiring process.

Upon a conditional offer, the applicant must undergo a pre-employment base line two step tuberculin skin test (TST) as part of the hiring process.

Criminal background check:A satisfactory criminal background check is required as a condition of hire. The recruiting agency may require the applicant to pay for the criminal background check as part of the conditional offer of hire.
