Job Duties
The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) affects every household in Ohio by regulating publicly owned providers of all utility services, including electric and natural gas companies, local and long-distance telephone companies, water and wastewater companies, rail and trucking companies. The PUCO was created to assure Ohioans adequate, safe and reliable public utility services at a fair price. The PUCO facilitates competitive utility choices for Ohio consumers.
As a Software Development Specialist 2 you will:
Apply understanding of Salesforce* Programming and Administration.
Diagnose, analyze and resolve production issues in Cloud technologies.
Perform post production support for business applications which may include routine maintenance, enhancements, and research/fixes to aid in troubleshooting production issues.
Develop software applications using cloud technologies (e.g. .NET, AWS, Azure).
Conduct testing, implementation and assists with documentation.
Stay current regarding new technologies, standards and techniques

Our organization currently follows a hybrid work structure where employees can work remotely or from the office as needed and based on operational need. This is subject to change with limited notice. A teleworking agreement must be approved by management.
Qualifications
Completion of undergraduate core program in computer science or information systems; AND 24 months combined work experience in any combination of the following: designing and performing systems analysis, developing and/or modifying programs for computer applications recommending application solutions and/or testing and correcting programs as it relates to testing and implementation and assisting with documentation including 12 months work experience in the primary technology as specified by the agency position description & job posting.
Knowledge of: computer and electronics, oral and written communication tools and techniques, customer support and personal service, state and agency policy, procedures and applicable laws*, vision, mission and goals of agency*, software development principles and methods for design, development, testing and implementation of new or modified software, commonly used query language, mathematic principles relative to assigned area in IT, IT principles, methods and practices in assigned specialty area, standard software validation tools, software distribution tools and mechanisms, technical writing and documentation practices.
Skill for: reading comprehension, speaking, service orientation, troubleshooting, critical thinking, and complex problem solving.
Ability to: stay abreast of current technologies in area of IT assigned, deal with problems involving several variables in familiar context, and define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

OR 48 months combined work experience in any combination of the following: designing and performing systems analysis, developing and/or modifying programs for computer applications recommending application solutions and/or testing and correcting programs as it relates to testing and implementation and assisting with documentation including 12 months work experience in the primary technology as specified by the agency position description & job posting.
OR equivalent of minimum class qualifications for employment noted above.

Comment 1:
In order to screen in for this position, your application and/or resume must demonstrate that you have at least 12 months experience with .Net Framework. Failure to do so will result in disqualification for this position.

This position is open to all interested applicants, but may be filled by internal promotion. Written and/or oral assessments may be given as part of the selection process. As this is a bargaining unit position, the provisions of the Ohio Civil Service Employees Association (OCSEA) contract apply.
