Bismarck Public Schools is accepting applications for an Elementary Reading Specialist for the 2023-2024 school year.

Qualifications:
  • Valid North Dakota teaching license or the ability to obtain a license by the start of school. Need to be licensed K-5.
  • Kindergarten endorsement or the Early Childhood Praxis passing score.
  • Reading credential, preferred

This posting is for external teaching applicants (this also includes current BPS employees in support staff/temporary/substitute positions). Current contracted part-time BPS teachers wanting a full-time position should also complete the external application.

A teaching contract is 187 days. The school year starts in August with a teacher work day followed by staff development days.

External applicants are allowed to bring in up to 12 years of K - 12 teaching experience.

New Teacher Orientation for all teachers new to BPS will be held August 8-11

Performance Responsibilities:
  • Deliver a targeted intervention (SBR and district approved), based on data that enables students to be successful.
  • Instruct students individually or in small groups (preferably 4 or less).
  • Create a schedule based on skill need, using push in and/or pull out model of service to meet the needs of students.
  • Collaborate with team to assess, review, recommend and deliver student interventions (RTI).
  • Attend District Reading PLC meetings.
  • Attend Building PLC meetings, IEPs, and other related meetings when necessary.
  • Know and follow Title I guidelines in accordance with your schools program (targeted assistance, district look-a-like or school wide).
  • Maintain student records and submit appropriate paperwork.
  • Plan and oversee reading instructional aides, if applicable.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Must be able to travel to each private school building during the day which would include up to 5 stops.
